We seem quite bad at dealing with crosses The ball never seems to be cleared properly And miss headers a lot
True, but tell that to some on here...I'm sorry to bang on about it, but they're doing my head in. 'Easy win.' 'Piece of piss.'.... This and that....
Coyle's all over the place - their second goal came because there was two wide men on the right and only one City player to stop them crossing the ball - Coyle was the furthest to the left opposite the far goal post
For me it's quite obvious our best defence (and performances) have come with the Drameh Ajayi Hughes Giles back four. We need to play that into rhythm until Ajayi goes to AFCON.
Thats def one big element that i cant answer How much of our defensive problems are due to the system we play, the system that enables us to attack so well? Every system has pros and cons Only sheff wed have conceded more goals than us But only coventry have scored more We do have some random defensive mistakes But are they increased due to how much more crosses and shots we receive? We regularly invite so much pressure from the opposition, you think its only a matter of time until they score Even in games we have won, like against pompey
That’s so funny you’re seriously trying to blame Coyle for that And the ****** likes your post Play drameh play Drameh wah wah wah
Tbf, I too noticed Coyle was furthest to the left for that goal and was wondering how the heck that happened, with 2 of their's on our right again with such freedom. Not making any judgement until highlights hopefully show the build up.
I don’t think the system is the problem, our dangerous attacks are generally counter attacks, and the goals we concede are mostly really **** defending. Players leaving too much space, back tracking and not putting a challenge in, getting skinned, missing headers, not dealing with crosses, weak clearances going straight to the enemy. That sort of thing. It’s not like we have our whole team pushed up the pitch and have big gaps exploited all the time, these players just seem incapable of carrying out basic defending for 90 minutes without any **** ups.
Agree in apart. However, with important players still injured or not yet match fit City are a bit of a Conundrum in terms of what’s achievable and where we might well actually finish this season. On the plus side, with around 90 points still up for grabs and teams still beating each other City have more than enough time on their side to both hang around and get missing players back up to speed and potentially gear up for a late challenge. Defensively though I agree, it’s worry. Even the most optimistic amongst our ranks will agree we are shipping to many goals at the moment and that’s something The Big Turk and his coaching staff have to somehow address..potentially with what we already have in the building. UTT.
Absolutely. Neither might have scaled the heights of Hughes at his best but they were consistent performers and overall I think we looked much more solid with those two as a CB pairing. On several occasions yesterday, Hughes missed his header, lost his man from a cross. In fairness, our CBs were also under pressure a lot yesterday because we were outplayed in midfield but there is clearly something not quite right at the centre of our defence.
