The only consolation is that nobody else seems to be able to get any consistency going, meaning the situation is not totally lost (well the title is, but not CL spots) But if something doesn't change fast, that position could/will get away from us.
The only positive from today was that Mo looked sharp today but and its a big but we didn't score and didn't create many clear chances The "defence" doesn't bear talking about
If we'd won today we'd be upto 4th only a point behind city and 2 behind second place Chelsea. Either a strong argument that the league is ultra competitive or just possibly everyone is ****e depending on your mood.
We need a ****ing Covid break, never mind an international one. C'mon, Donald, drop the Big One on somebody soon.
How many others were fortunate enough to watch today's debacle on a completely uninterrupted, FHD live stream? **** you, Irish Sky Sports, and **** you IPTV.
RB and CB are a real problem atm, exaggerated slightly by Kerkez at LB imo. Slot is falling into the same trap as 2021 Klopp, playing more experienced players out of position instead of trusting unused players that can play there naturally.
But least Klopp kept switching it about in an attempt to find a solution (and eventually did) whereas Slot is repeating the same thing every game
We should have played Ramsay at RB. Konate was so bad Gomez would have been better. What has really come back to hit us hard is selling Quansah. We seemed to be relying on Guhi coming in. I still believe if Leoni had not been injured he would be playing alongside VVD as first choice. We need another proven prem CB in January and then Konate should be last choice for the position as he is obviously not interested and intends to leave on a free.
I tell you something that befuddles me. At some point isak, ekitike and wirtz are all going to play in the same team. They will be our front 3. So why havmt we changed shape to accommodate. We've bought two fullbacks that absolutely love flying down the wing, and are incredibly good at it. We've already had two fullbacks that loved flying down the wing. So why are we persisting with this inside fullback stuff that was purely designed for a player who no longer plays for us? We've got an incredible box to box midfielder. Absolutely amazing engine either negated stood infront of everybody at 10 or playing right back because of one lucky game. The amount of things that could be changed, just tweaked to maybe alter our play is quite astonishing. Or we could carry on playing 433 then panicking and throwing on forwards and dropping midfielders into defence
We do need another CB but this is more than just throwing more players into the squad. We need a properly balanced team, Slot seems to be incapable of setting us up properly this season. It’s highly frustrating.
Should never have sold Quansah until Guehi was in the bag. That said, they couldn't have legislated for what happened to Leoni, though that re-emphasises the need to have had Guehi sorted before letting Q go - we ALWAYS seem to lose one of our four CBs (if not more) each season. So does everyone else.
Especially if he doesn’t rate Gomez, who I think needs a run of games but would have been a better choice than taking Szlob out of midfield. When we do that, it ****s up defence, midfield and attack. All because he had one decent game against a very cagey Arsenal in the role.
