He's been injured for a lot of this season. But he clearly isn't in the picture even when fit with all the options we've got now. Still picked by Ireland U21s though which must say something. He mentioned a year or so ago that he didn't enjoy his loan spell the previous year under Rosenior and would prefer to just stay in the U21s now. Not sure whether that's good for his development or what.
Vaughan had an offer from York to go there this year but he thinks he’s above that level. His experience to date wouldn’t suggest that given he’s struggled to produce output at higher levels since his breakout season with Oldham.
Mad attitude to have. If he went there and smashed it he could have moved up a league in Jan. Now he'll be released in the summer with probably a League 2 offer at absolute best.
Yep exactly. Those dead rubber games under Rosenior he featured in have largely inflated his expectations of what level he’s at. Yeah he was okay but hardly pulled up any trees, the best part of his game was that he didn’t look out his depth. He’ll fall down the divisions i feel because he is just not physical or quick enough and it gets worse the further you go down
Yeah you're spot on there. He looked neat and tidy in a team that valued possession above all else, but never came close really to scoring or getting an assist. Needs to go somewhere and start racking up the numbers to progress as he'll want to.
That's not entirely true. He did essentially assist an own goal in one of the home games during that spell by playing a ball across that was turned in, think it was against Swansea. And in another game against Watford also during that spell he played a key role in us winning a penalty, which half the team ran over to him to acknowledge. To me he has obvious talent, but it might not be enough if he's lacking in other areas. I wonder about his mentality with the talk of turning down loan moves and wanting to stay in the U21s (which he said himself).
That's my feeling too, flatters to deceive, I thought his spell at Bristol Rovers and their manager's comments were noticeable. He seems to have a high opinion of himself, which is not the right attitude.
