I'm not sure that many have said wait and see with Tonda? I know many have said wait and see which managers may become available in the next few weeks. I don't think many at all want Tonda full time.
This. But if in the meantime we win a few games that takes the pressure off a panic manager and we may be able to get who we want.
You could look at it in the opposite way. Seeing if Tonda does well and giving him the job until the end of the season could well be a long term plan. Our choice of managers will likely be much better in the summer. So Tonda seeing us through until then would avoid us having to rush and settle for someone we dont really want.
Just watched the presser. Sounds like he has the job if the next 3 games are positive. He avoided directly answering questions about his future. Bored with the talk about club philosophy and fans getting behind the team. Same old flannel over and over. Zero talk about football and how we can improve on the pitch. He might be a genius, who knows? I certainly can't see him kicking them up the backside. Looks way too placid.
He is clearly who the players 'want'. So they are getting a fairly easy time, doing tactics that they 'like' and 'know', not too much physical fitness stuff and passing back and forth practice, and probably getting Mondays off and some hugs. So he will get the job.
They definitely have. Some may have the thinking of the second part of what you're saying but I have definitely seen comments on here from people saying that as long as he keeps winning why can't he just keep managing.
If this board's polls are representative of the Saints fanbase, then Tonda would be a less popular appointment than O'Neil. He'd be under huge pressure as soon as we don't win a game .
If SR has not found anyone before December I think it is highly likely that Tonda will be given the January window and about three weeks after it closes. Whether that is still as an interim or as the named manger I am not sure, but financially it makes sense to keep him on his current contract as long as possible. When we got rid of Russell I wanted Mark Robins - I think we missed a chance there. I guess if Carrack wanted the job he would have accepted already.
