More likely than both being corrupt.

 

Less likely than FIFA being corrupt who have been proven to be so and would have appointed them.

 

The same team who just happened to be the host nation.

What I will say is it's more likely for any corruption to be around back then in football then it is today. FIFA have cleaned themselves up since Blatter and Collina, who's head of refereeing with UEFA and I think he's involved at FIFA level as well, is very strict with what referees can and can't do away from the pitch.

And while FIFA have been proven to be corrupt, as far as I can tell, it's all off the pitch related. As a referee, I just find it very hard to believe that a referee could go onto a pitch and deliberately favour one team over another.

 

Well they wouldn’t be doing it for free. I’m sure a million dollars would sway most.

 

As I said earlier just because you wouldn't do something that doesn't mean others won't and that's a flawed assumption imo.

Most doctors couldn't imagine doctors intentionally harming patients but then Harold Shipman came along.

 

And Moreno has been found guilty of corrupt refereeing on at least two other occassions in his career (apart from the World Cup).

 

I also disagree with FIFA cleaning itself up, the way it paved the way for Saudi 2034 was a bit dodgy.

 

And agreeing to let Trump move host cities at the last minute if he so wishes.

 

They've done no such thing. Trump said that, FIFA said no.

Where have FIFA confirmed it in that article? Reading the quotes I see no evidence of that.

 

WC qualifying play offs:

Italy/Northern Ireland v Wales/Bosnia and Herzegovina
Ukraine/Sweden v Poland/Albania
Turkey/Romania v Slovakia/Kosovo
Denmark/North Macedonia v Czech Republic/Ireland

Ireland have a decent chance. Not so sure about NI or Wales!

 

Crucially, Wales and Ireland would host the final should they get there.

 

Have FIFA said ‘no’? Trump asked Infantino to his face, and Infantino said, “Yeah”.

 

They're not moving games on Trump's say so. Tickets have already been sold, plans are already in place. If you read what Infantino actually said, he said safety and security was the number one priority. He's not going to get into an argument with Trump on live TV.

 

So FIFA didn’t say ‘no’ then. Even though the media is now reporting they have agreed to Trump, they still aren’t ruling it out.

Also, the ‘safety and security’ line is from Trump.
