I doubt he makea much use of our services tbh. Not that it is relevant. I agree they should pay fair taxes. We might disagree on what is fair though. I dont think we should have an abundance of wealth taxes as in my opinion it will cost more than it earns.

Sticking with Ratcliffe. Like many succeasfull businessmen he has his philanthropic interests. One is called the forgotten 40 which I liked. It is about targetting child poverty. Ineos gives schools £20k p.a. for 3 years in some of the most deprived areas of the country. Money goes straight to the head to use as they wish. Maybe the donations means his company pays less uk tax? But in my opinion these sorts of schemes are worthwhile because some are getting very meaningful help. Without central govt dictating how you must spend the money.

Sweeping additional taxation of wealthy and successful business folk will have unintended consequences imo. We need to tread the line carefully.

    Fair enough.

All I would add is if these wealthy people paid fair tax we would have decent public services and there would be less reliance on charities to provide needed services. Same as the royal family

He probably spends a fortune paying accounts to avoid tax and then on his philanthropic efforts. if I was as rich as him I’d pay fair tax and be philanthropic. Mind he is wasting his money chucking good after bad with Man U.

Then if labour looked at the spend on migrants they wouldn't need to hit pensioners so much a recent investigation found that they are supplying vapes for free
that is for just one centre , in an area it comes to a total cost of millions, there is nothing under the UN convention saying we need to supply vapes

Roger I agree we need a robust immigration policy and putting people In hotels is daft but this government did not create this problem, it was an absolute mess they inherited from the last government. At least there is now a plan in place to tackle this. Hopefully no stupid political games by the Tories (who created the problem in the first place) and the country can get on top of this divisive issue once and for all.

in terms of pensioners it was a Labour government who introduced the WFA in the first place and pensioners who need it still get it and it’s being expanded this year.

The Truss budget knocked £400 billion off all our pensions - the Tories are the real enemies of pensioners. Not to mention Mag Hancock needlessly sending thousands to their deaths.

There are a bunch of ex British soldiers in France now. They have done recces in the dark and located where they hid the boats in the sand and the outboard stuffed in plastic and buried. They notified local police dug them up and destroyed them. but the worst news they found out was that there are no gangsters running it. The police are with them and are under their escort, in the morning as the coach carrying them along with the police escort, as they alight from the bus, they are given life jackets and make their way to the equipment, the operation is run by the police with the knowledge of our CS, that's why they ask for the life jackets back. Our boys are patrolling the harbour looking for the British boats coming in early mornings for drop off looking for the evidence of deflated dinghy's being returned, the video is on you tube now

I can't read that, there appears to be a paywall mate. You might be interested in this SKY News research, where it evidences migrants being bused in, they just wait for the nod to go on local buses. If you watch the video the police are even waiting at the location (bus stop) they are departing from, and everyone all but two are allowed on their way. Some of the migrants are happy to reveal their journey, some less so but the journalist follows them on the entire journey, one womans claim to how much she paid for her familiy journey is absolutely astonishing. Very organised and is running like clockwork, with no one interested in stopping the criminal enterprise...

Nah Michelle Mone she’s the expert £220m stolen from us all.

but in relation to this thread if this is the calibre of Reform councillors they are no better than fiddler Farage stealing a living out the EU.

you have had as much to say about pensioners, what about these pensioners? He also owes his own council money on which he is an elected representative. Appalling and his post should be untenable.

Not taxing them has significant consequences. I find it gobsmackingly weird that you are happy for people who earn phenomenal, unnecessary amounts of personal wealth and assets to drive up the cost for our children. It will untenable soon for our children to have what we took for granted like having your own home. Some working class people are the cheerleaders and fan boys for these people despite the fact that they don’t give a flying ****e about our quality of life. Gordon Brown is the person trying to get the money out of Amazon and Ineos and co, through schemes like the multi bank initiative. Of course it’s better that something charitable is done but when financial inequality is the cause of it a bigger impact would be to redistribute wealth not get people saying ‘thank you kind sir’ for optional free stuff. Patriotic Millionaires are a better option. When Radcliffe joins them we’re making progress. He won’t because he’s vile.

A billionaire being fairly taxed is not being milked. Tax pays for schools and the nhs and any decent human being should have no issue paying fair tax particularly billionaires.

When you have working class people defending them You certainly know why they spend a lot of money to control the media and paying puppets like Farage.

I saw him on Look North last night, typical bully, full of bluster and threats but walked away when the reporter stood his ground. Nasty piece of work who hopefully is about to get everything he deserves.

    ‘I wasn’t his only target’
“My grandparents had escaped from Nazi Germany, and had always talked with deep gratitude about how they felt welcome in the UK,” he says.

“I’d never experienced antisemitism growing up, so the first time that this vicious verbal abuse came out of Farage’s mouth was deeply shocking. But I wasn’t his only target. I’d hear him calling other students ‘Paki’ or ‘Wog’, and urging them to ‘go home’. I tried to ignore him, but it was humiliating. It was shaming. This kind of abuse cuts through to the core of your identity.”

Ettedgui said he didn’t feel he could talk about it with his family or teachers. “So I just buried the whole experience and got on with life. Many years later, a friend sent me a link to a video of Farage berating EU commissioners. Just hearing that aggressive, hectoring tone again, my blood ran cold.”

Farage could suddenly “switch from hostility and become disarmingly affable, even charming”, Ettedgui says.

“But from my experience, there’s no doubt in my mind that he was a profoundly, precociously racist teenager … I’d like to know why he’s never owned up or shown the slightest contrition.

“I was very small in one of the junior classes of the time, and you know that the sixth-formers were probably 17, very tall, much taller than me,” he said. “And that person’s walk, it’s the same walk he has now, I’ll never forget it.

“He walked up to a pupil flanked by two similarly tall mates and spoke to anyone looking ‘different’. That included me on three occasions; asking me where I was from, and pointing away, saying: ‘That’s the way back,’ to wherever you replied you were from.

Anyone on here still backing Farage? Anyone saying he’s not racist? The bloke who’s still trying to send people home….. with the backing of some on here. Are people willing to be open about why they back him?

We have different opinions on what drives a successful economy. That seems the top and bottom of it.

When you use terms like gobsmackingly weird, and cheerleaders and fanboys, you do yourself no favours imo. I do not believe I am either.

Maybe, just maybe, there is more than your way when it comes to economic prosperity.

Me done for a while on wealth tax. Given my opinion, take it or leave.
