I was asked this question tonight by an ex City Academy player. First time I'd heard this one. I now know the answer but does anyone else? Question; Why did City have to change their black and amber striped home kit to the away one for one game at Boothferry Park?
I recall Bradford coming to the KCOM with only one kit which clashed with City's shirts. So City had to play in sky blue shirts, but not at BP.
The answer came from a player who was actually wearing one of the shirts at the time. It was the first team, hot afternoon. A swarm of bees, wasps, or some thing that stung, swarmed and were attracted to the amber in the City shirts. To be ultra safe the team went off the field and changed into the second strip.
