Good Morning. It's Wednesday 19th November, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Sack Farke if Leeds lose to Villa?

The managerial situation at Elland Road continues to divide debate, ever since the Daily Mail report almost a fortnight ago intimated that Daniel Farke had been given five games to turn results around; a countdown that began with a humbling defeat to Nottingham Forest just 48 hours later. Now, with a daunting run of fixtures on the horizon, Leeds’ survival hopes under Farke look increasingly precarious. This weekend’s clash with Aston Villa already feels like it's make-or-break time.

Failure to secure points on sunday, and Leeds will head into successive encounters with Manchester City, Chelsea, and Liverpool, three of the Premier League’s elite. Realistically, if Leeds can’t breach Villa, the likelihood of them taking anything from the next three matches is slim. That leaves the 49ers group, with a difficult decision: act immediately to spark a reaction before the toughest games arrive, or give Farke the full run of fixtures and risk the season spiralling further out of control. Either way, the next fortnight will prove decisive for both Daniel Farke, and Leeds short term future.

Rob Jones to officiate Villa game

The upcoming clash between Leeds United and Aston Villa at Elland Road on Sunday will be officiated by Rob Jones, a familiar figure for both sides. Jones will take charge on the field, with Tim Wood and Nick Greenhalgh as his assistant referees, while Leigh Doughty will serve as the fourth official. In the VAR room, Craig Pawson will monitor proceedings with support from assistant VAR Nick Hopton.

Leeds have enjoyed a solid record under Jones’ officiating, winning nine of the 19 matches he has overseen and losing only five. Interestingly, Aston Villa have faced Jones even more often, 21 matches compared to Leeds’ 19, and their record is less favourable, with 10 defeats in those games. His extensive experience with both clubs means he will be a well-known presence on Sunday.

The "sack Farke" ship has sailed, he should have gone last week and the "tough" run coming up could potentially destroy whatever confidence is left in the dressing room. If Leeds get hammered through this run, a new manager probably won't make much of a difference, unless his name is Bielsa.

The 49ers are taking a gamble with Farke now, because we can see how he's slowly failing through the team's recent performances. The fight and grit seems to have evaporated, players aren't looking for the ball and they're not keen to take risks. Nobody is stepping up and taking charge, everybody playing it safe.

The results and performances are in the bin now, it's been a slow burn to get to this point, but here we are. Farke can't fix it.

Here's something I wrote just a few days before we heard Leeds were after Bielsa. The message is pretty relevant to the Farke situation.

When you need your captain to step up and lead by example we didnt get that for the last 2 games. Ampadu Farley has a bad game but he’s been missing in the last 2 outings and maybe should have been replaced. We now need leaders all over the pitch and we need Bijol to create his man of the match performance he gave against Sweden and help Rodon, we need Perri to say fk off we are not doing tippytappy at the back. We need Longstaffe and Stach to energise the middle and we need James,mOkafor and DCL to demand the ball, press and attack
