I've seen talk with Rangers fans and the are all fairly positive about him. They reckon the club failed to back him leaving him with a very uphill task. Plus he binned Cantwell as I recall.

The European sporting media is always full of unfounded wild speculation but the more reliable outlets seem to suggest that apart from JDT another European coach withdrew when the full terms were presented
Agree. When you compare his record at Rangers to other recent Managers it does not look that bad. Russell Martin couldn't keep them in the top 2

I think this is a really good appointment in the circumstances. Will it work out? Who knows. But I can at least see the logic of appointing him given UK experience, experience of digging clubs out of a hole, general ethos to playing and his reputation for getting squads under control.

I know the club was criticised above, but this appointment process reads to me like a reasonably professional and careful managed affair.

It could all go wrong, naturally. But I am feeling a lot more positive even without knowing anything about the manager beyond his record at Rangers

Clement on a 3.5 year contract. MA has already had to fork out to sack JHT and buy-in Manning. Now he has had to payoff Manning. After such expense, I was surprised that Clement was offered a three and a half year contract. Perhaps that’s what was needed to get him to sign?

I've been all for the younger managers we have had recently but I am glad we have gone for someone slightly older (51) this time, feels needed given our situation.

'Outage at Cloudflare disrupts access to some popular websites'
This and many sites like Twi(x)ter were down. All seemingly resolved now.

I'll be honest, not sure about him. Seems to have performed 'well' in lower leagues at big clubs, with high potential players that can be sold.
We've given him a 4 year contract, yet his average at clubs is a tad over 1.
He suggests he wants to attack and score goals, so given our poor defensive record against straight long balls we'll either be losing or winning 3-2. He has no wriggle room, and needs to hit the ground running with at least a strong performance against Brum.
Would have preferred Jon Dahl, happy to proven wrong.

Yes, mine happens in Hong Kong. Lasted about 90 minutes I believe.
PC says he has watched recordings of most of our games already which indicates his desire to get acquainted with the players and the problems ensuring his ability to talk about us in his interview with MA.

I'm not sure either, but he's our man and we'll have to see his impact. He likes attacking football, but he was a CB when playing so the defence should not be neglected. Three games in his first week should give us some idea.

"We'll press, be aggressive, and play to score goals."

As I keep saying, the last time I can remember seeing us press effectively for almost an entire game was pre-season against Olympique Marseilles under Dean Smith! It figured large in Manning's playbook, but only spasmodically on the pitch. I wonder what makes PC think he can succeed where so many before him have failed. He didn't even preface it with "once the fitness and physio departments have been sorted out" .........

Chap from Ibrox podcast (?) stated he "lacks creativity and is very direct".....suppose we won't expect much from Kvist, Jurasek, Marcondes, Schwartau from the wings then.

Sargent isn't exactly built like Holt, so no idea how that's going to do down with the Barclay, if we take direct as Pulis style?

edit: oddly, just recently re-watched the City vs Pompey 2011 match where we sealed promotion, the match commentator made a point of saying we had an imposing target up top in Holt, with Jackson and later Martin happy to run and run and run in the channels. Not mention Crofts, Surman & Fox who weren't afraid to put afoot in.

Kvistgaarden has been playing behind Sargent and Schwartau, Jurásek and Makama have been playing as inverted wingers, so that could suit them all as the FBs/WBs make up the width. Time will tell.

He also looks a bit scary and hard-nosed… should keep Duffy in his place
