Kish was another fantastic utility player. Always gave 100% in any given position.

I enjoyed the 99/00 season. I think I only missed two or three that year, home and away.

That yellow MESH strip is still a fave (not that I can get into it these days).

Martin Pringle. I loved his enthusiasm.

I'll be very impressed if one of the players is named.

Hmm. That may have been a couple of years later when the likes of CP, Parker and Konchesky were called up for England. Plus we had Johansson, Svensson, Jensen and Bartlett all playing internationals.

Curbs signed some excellent players over the years.

The most exciting and uplifting team I have watched with my own eyes at the Valley was Chris Powell's 2011-12 League One winning team.

Ben Hamer, Chris Solly, Rhoys Whiggins, Michael Morrison, Johnnie Jackson
Dale Stephens, Bradley Wright-Phillips, Yann Kermorgant, Danny Green, Matt Taylor & various squad players.

Granted this was 3rd tier football. But I fondly remember some great afternoons as we rose to be Champions with 101 points.
Lee Bowyer's 2018-19 team was good, and the Wembley play-off Final a great day out. But I recall enjoying 2011-12 more as a whole.

Now, I don't know whether NJ's team of last season was better than that. Before this season I hadn't been to a game since November 2022.
I'm only giving my answer based on what I've seen since 2007.

Fantastic squad. To this day i do not know how Lennie Lawrence fashioned such a good team with such a small budget. When you think of the amount of money we have wasted over the years on absolute crap.

For those who supported us in the 80s, there’s a video doing the rounds on Twitter today of a goal from the 84/85 season from our then skipper Mark Aizlewood.

I know @Dick Plumb1 and @Ponders Revisited @ElfsborgAddick followed us in that era, but for them & others what are their memories of Aizlewood ?

For a skipper in a period of relative success, he was definitely a marmite player for our fanbase.

I remember Mark Aizlewood being not very popular with the Charlton fans. I seem to remember him giving us the V sign after he scored.

I don't remember too much about him, as he left the year I really started following Charlton. From what I've read we made a decent profit on him, though Lennie wanted him to stay.

Now if you'd asked about John Bumstead...

Cracking little player, he’s a black cabbie these days. Lives in Chislehurst.

A thread about former Charlton players and what they do nowadays would be interesting.

Not CAFC-related, but I do know Mike Walker (former Norwich manager) set up a skip hire company after leaving football.
