Bit like Watford v Rotherham in about 1968. We won 5-0 though

And Carlisle six years earlier, when we won 5-1 - televised because virtually every other game was snowed off.

    Simple win for England .

Probably didn’t really learn much from it .

Excellent success for the Republic of Ireland v Portugal for whom a certain number 7 was sent off.

They probably rue losing to Armenia now

Play-offs for Northern Ireland and probably Wales/Scotland then.

Scots typically still have hope and almost staged an unlikely come back in Greece.

Scotland will qualify if they beat Denmark at Hampden, meaning it's the play-offs for Denmark instead.
Not an impossible task, but whether or not it's likely is anyone's guess.

Well done Ireland - a 96th minute goal gives them a 3-2 win over Hungary and a trip to USA next year.

    Correction - a play-off spot.

Excellent for them after that bad defeat in Armenia.

    Great turn around .

I know he wasn't involved this time but Selvik can look forward to the World cup as Haaland and co have qualified.

DR Congo with Kayembe will play in the Intercontinental play-offs next March after beating Nigeria on penalties.

Will play one or two of Bolivia, New Caledonia, one team from AFC, and two from CONCACAF in the inter-confederation play-offs.

I was going to point out that Ireland have only reached the World Cup play-offs (and not yet the finals in the U.S.A.), but I have just read the correction by Bolton's Boots. Nevertheless, a great result!

Both Scotland and Wales need to win tonight to either qualify automatically or get second place.

Wales might do but not sure about the Scots .

Am not sure what you mean there - Scotland are already guaranteed at least second place, and there's no way Wales are going to qualify automatically.

What? You mean the mighty Liechtenstein, with whom we share our dirge of a national anthem with, are not going defeat the Belgians? Come on!<whistle><laugh>
Proper winner takes all stuff between the Welsh and North Macedonia, all the same.
