Trump now calling on Republicans to release the Epstein files - although he had little choice tbf, the vote in the House of Representatives is almost certainly go in favour of it ... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cvgv653v1vjo However, the cynic in me wonders whether the Senate will go the same way - if they don't then the full release is still blocked - Trump's stance at that stage will be quite telling IMHO ... arm's wide 'nothing to hide' so release them - fair play ... mumbling about closing it down because it's distracting everyone from what really matters, tariffs etc ... hmmm...
I read over the weekend that the reason he has asked the DOJ and FBI to look at Clinton and the others with regards to the Epstein files, is that when this discharge partition reaches his desk, he can refuse to release them as it’s now an active investigation.
Whilst, admittedly, I am an absolute, unapologetic, cynic, when it comes down to the actions of Powerful men (Politicians / leaders in particular) ... nothing at all would actually surprise me as to the lengths and machinations they will go to to retain positions, power and influence... I'm not a conspiracy theorist by any strech, indeed I often can't help a wry smile at some of the more bizarre propositions - but it's rather unfortunate, isn't it, that both Epstein and Virginia Giuffre aren't around to provide full and frank context to some of the detail and transcripts now coming out ...and Ghislaine Maxwell will obviously sell her tits for a Presidential pardon - and the US political system is so FUBAR that it won't come as that much of a surprise to anyone if she ends up with one ... be interesting if she's ever asked to explain what her take on "I want you to realize that that dog that hasn't barked is Trump." really means... End of cynical observation...
New Home Secreatary proper kicked off and SKY News have had to apologise for the language... The Lib Dems instead of supporting her, said she was wrong in saying that migration has caused division in this country. She just blew and good on her, she suggested he get out and walk around this country and see the division, I'm fed up with being called a ****ing Paki and told to go back home, this is the divisiveness it's caused. The chair asked she apologise for her language, she did and said I was reflecting what happened.
Quite like that. It’s probably the most thankless task in government. She’ll get battered by the right no matter what they try or the impact it has unless we invade France and blow dinghies out the sea and battered by the left for anything that isn’t draining the Channel and rolling out a 26 mile red carpet.
Best Parliament speech I've heard in a long time, I love her frankness, I'm fully behind her about time we had a politician with some balls. The system will sadly grind her down, but it's refreshing while it lasts.
Just hope now that Starmer supports her and congrats for her stance, also acknowledging the language was required to give full context.
SKY journalist, she was on fire, not for the squeamish, she's giving Wes Streeting a run for his money. Language was brutal. ****ing loved it.
But on the other hand, and for the sake pf context, there are a lot of outspoken racists in thus country right now, who would have kept their mouths shut a few years ago but now feel empowered to sound off. And these thick bigots have been encouraged by unscrupulous politicians and a complicit press, who have weaponised a sensitive and complex issue
Starmer don't like it when people speak out, see Rosie Duffield for more info, when she spoke out about Trans.
Nothing sensitive and complex about 20 young men jumping on a dinghy from a safe country, due to organised crime games. I agree it's more sensitive and complex around young children and mothers, one that actually paid £45,000 to the criminal gang to get her family here. If they come from unsafe zone then I support a legal passage, but better to take the £45k off her ourselves then allow gangsters to run the show...
