Yeah definitely, that's another factor in him wanting to stay here surely? He's comfortable, nailed on first choice, playing in his favoured position(s).
He’s on 30k. He was on 15k last season. So people were saying anyway, I have no idea how anyone would actually know.
I was under the impression it was £30k doubling to £60k this year which is why it was so eye-watering and out of reach. The way we offer wages, £30k p/w at the start of the summer wouldn't have even seemed that unrealistic?
I remember it being said even before Leeds were promoted that his wage made it difficult for Leeds to sell him. Sounded like it was already high even before it doubled.
It being £15k p/w doesn't seem high at all. His wages were described as 'Premier League wages' which meant Leeds were struggling to sell. £15k is a pretty standard wage at this level surely? I'd wager we have at least half a dozen players on that and more.
By Championship standards, no I don't think so. It'll still be a decent amount, but I can't see it being more than we pay McBurnie. I was assuming that in order to get Gelhardt to the table they'd need to offer him substantially more than he is on now, which may well border on the ridiculous but then, most of these clubs have more money than sense.
He does want to stay, but he's also got a lot of eyes on him ATM and is gaining a lot of interest. I'm not sure we'll be able to compete in the summer financially if he carries on his form. Leeds not looking to bring him back in the Jan window ATM, but that can and may change depending on other factors including offers and also managerial changes
