I watched the second half and thought there are some definite positive signs. Defence needs a lot of work but some great attacking intent. Argentina are a good side now, we saw that when they beat the Lions.

Tandy obviously needs time, let's see where we are after the six nations.

    I know Steve. Lovely guy.

I feel sorry for him that he’s taken the job at this time.

Just watched the brief highlights. Really stupid from Adams but he's got form. Wales scraped it, helped by lots of Japanese yellows. Far from convincing but the win is huge at this stage of Tandy's tenure.

If you had said ten years ago that the players would be celebrating and jumping for joy after beating Japan in Cardiff by 1 point, they would have taken you away in a straight jacket. :steam:

At least the win ensured that we will be in the second pot for the upcoming World Cup draw.

Even worse when you consider Ireland hammering Aus and England beating the ABs (again). Not sure what happened to Scotland <yikes>

I watched all 3 - Ireland. England and the Pumas were all deserving winners.

We’ve got the ABs next week and the Bokke the week after - might be an idea to ask Glamorgan if we can borrow the scoreboard from Sophia Gardens ….

Not being an avid fan of the oval ball would this terminal decline of the Welsh Rugby team have started when the regions took over from the clubs as the source of players? In the old days the likes of Neath, Aberavon,Swansea, Bridgend , Pontypridd, Pontypool and Cardiff had strong teams with excellent players and support....now the regions are poorly supported and they are struggling in the Rugby championship with the above mentioned clubs among others also struggling. Seems to be a mess of WRUs doing

100% correct to ask the question.

If you look at the recent success of the Wales team - the players like Warburton, Alun Wyn, Biggar etc all started playing before the advent of Regional Rugby.

They’d have started in their local clubs as kids - the Gowertons, Bonymaens, Mumbles, etc etc - before progressing through the age grades.

The Wales team nowadays all started in the ‘new’ structure.

Something was lost - the much vaunted regional development pathways have largely failed.

As someone who was involved in the (good old) days before the Regions and then later in a Region, I know which structure and culture I prefer <cheers>

Many moons ago I lived in Port Talbot and as a youngster my father who didnt have any affinity to rugby at all bought me a season ticket to watch Aberavon one season...vaguely remember watching a couple of games and one in particular against Rosslyn Park...cant remember the score just what seemed to be a very large crowd...
