Most of us are big in Japan. But yes they are big there…it’s just you don’t get ripped off as much there as here that’s all
One of my best pals and fellow dj’s a guy called McD, responsible for bringing us, OCS, Dodgy, Ian Brown, Mani, Shaun Ryder, Clint Boon, Seahirses, John Squire, Phil Smith, countless people I’ve had the good fortune to either dj with or see up close, managed a band from here in Greenock called “Whiteout”. They were on “The Word”, Oasis supported them on a European tour and they were tipped for the top, then it never happened. They were huge in Japan, like mega famous. Totally different market. Had a great song called “No Time” and “Jacqui’s Racing” if anyone is interested. Very kinda indie.
Went to see Hamilton leightauser (Walkman singer) at the night and day cafe in Manchester last night. It was a really brilliant gig. A really good storyteller and a top bloke!
Hugely underrated band and a very underrated singer. 'The Rat' was easily the best 00's indie track. Their later stuff was great too.
Agreed. No idea why they didn’t get more attention. But then I did see a good review of their career which told of how they appeared to be trying to get out of record deals by doing deliberately awkward music, which I agree with. Some amazing music woven through some really odd stuff. Bows and arrows was their highlight album. Hamilton’s own stuff is really good though. He’s just a brilliant songwriter.
