Went to Tirana once and it was surprisingly chill. Hostile-ish at the game but I think it’s been fine in town and nothing riding on the match.
Climbed Mount Korab on the Macedonian border. Easy for an experienced climber I’d imagine and all our group of which I was probably middle of the pack for fitness managed it. Bit different if you fancy taking in a new country or two around there, which you probably don’t.
Also very secular. Even did their best to protect the Jews during the Holocaust. It’s not all car washes and drug dealers mostly because they’re all here.
I keep threatening to take a road trip down to Serbia. I have some friends there I can stay with. They wanted a car taking down there last year from the UK, but the timings didn't work for me. It's a part of Europe I've not been to before and some hiking in the mountains and exploring the coast in Montenegro would be right up my street.
Montenegro used to have a lot of Russian money and probably still does. Meant to be good. Seen plenty of Croatia and imagine it’s similar. Except Zagreb which was ****e.
