Agree....bit maybe your/me/lot of fans are basing that on our 'realistic' ambitions for the season....KLD's might be way higher, may see it as a good price for talent & experience to prevent an drop off second half of season....how we keep an increasingly talented squad happy game time wise is another challenge.....we also wont know the conversations which take place with players....could be along the lines sign, help us push on, were going to play lot more games next season
Spot on about Ballard! I know Micky Gray made a tit of himself about the England squad comment but Dan must be attracting that level thay if he would be getting a call up now? I haven't watched England for a while so no idea what they are like at the back but I doubt there are many CB's playing in the premier league who are an absolute rock at the back but also offer such a threat at set pieces! We have already and will continue score goals all season from set pieces directly from Dan scoring or assisting and then there is the times that they panic in the box knowing they have to try and ****ing stop him! I have seen people say "and people doubted me when I said he could step up!" I have no idea where that comes from? All last season people talked about losing him if not promoted cause he was easily ready, obviously in the summer there was a lot of "i hope we can compete" type feelings about the entire team! Why wouldn't there be after what we have seen but I don't think any of it was really believing Ballard wasn't good enough!
Said exactly the same thing a while back mate. Nwaneri will be 4th choice I’d imagine with Dowman coming through he would be an excellent signing.
I wonder if we go back in for last summers target... 31/8/25: Sunderland "keen" on RB Leipzig striker Lois Openda According to Florian Plettenberg on X, Sunderland have made their interest known in RB Leipzig forward Lois Openda, who is also wanted by the likes of Juventus and Aston Villa before the window slams shut. His current employers are set to demand a fee near the £35 million mark for his signature, and Philipp Hinze has added to these reports via the social media outlet, claiming Openda may be able to leave on loan with a mandatory purchase option. Sporting's Conrad Harder has been billed as a Leipzig replacement for the Belgium international, who has registered 41 goals and 18 assists in 93 appearances for the German top-flight outfit. Hitting a top speed of 38.86 kilometres per hour in the Bundesliga last term, per their official website, Openda is deemed a similar player to Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior by Football Transfers' comparison algorithm, coming as a result of his ability to race in-behind. Reinforcements in the forward areas are on the agenda for Sunderland and a move to bring the talented forward to Wearside would be a fitting end to a strong window for the Black Cats. ... he went to Juventus on loan and has made 8 appearances, 0 goals. He had scored 33 in 69 appearances for RB Leipzig.
I can As promising and talented as he is I’d be nervous having him as back up for the 2nd half of the season. Not sure if you can loan out keepers with a recall clause (assume not) in which case we’d need a more experienced back up.
