I think you are confusing that with Whittaker's classic, "Strumming my bitch's biff. " i grant you that they are very similar.
I've been thinking how so many of the artists I like tend to come from the same areas, Boston, Portland and Minneapolis in the States, Auckland, Brisbane and of course London, Liverpool and Manchester. So I thought i'd do a bit of an alphabetical tour of particular favourite artists from a list of cities starting with Aberdeen.
Wishing a very Happy 80th Birthday to one of my massive heroes, Neil Percival Young, born on this day in 1945. A few of my favourites from across the 6 decades of his back catalogue:
Happy belated 80th birthday Neil. Don't think i've posted this one before and it's one of my faves...
Today we head to Akron, Ohio. Firstly it's the birthplace of rock goddess Chrissie Hynde who has basically been the Pretenders all of these years...
Reminds me of one of my best Glasto experiences, Ian Macnabb with Crazy Horse as his band. Head like a Rock was the album they played on.
I'm sure we have lots of Swifties on this board, so here's my favourite song from Taylor Swift's new album It's good!
Enjoying the Alpha tour, but don’t believe you can visit Atlanta without the recent Rock n Roll hall of fame inductees Outkast Andre 3000 has recently released a couple of Jazz albums after becoming a keen flautist
Like that, I love it for people to post their own favourites as I want to listen to stuff i've never heard before.
I think he lived in Atlanta. This is a really interesting thread. I remember reading about regional styles of music and how distinct the differences were so the jazz from places auch as New Orleans , Chicago, New York and Kansas City were all pretty unique. On a broader spectrum , other regions were centres for blues , country and folk. But even different regions had different styles of blues guitar within a small genre. It fascinates me that some places can have an influential music hetitage whereas others don't.
Wait, I just realised you posted about Athens, Georgia without mentioning R.E.M.? I guess I'll have to then. Not sure if I could state a favourite R.E.M. song but it's probably between these: Losing My Religion is good, but it saddens me that it's pretty much the only song you ever hear on the radio, though occasionally I've heard The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite on Greatest Hits.
