I doubt they would do it, but if they ever wanted to, the constant roofline would allow it . So my mate says who knows a lot about architecture, though nothing about football!

Been over the stadium earlier seems the East stand has now been water blasted and painted (including the South East corner) but the South Stand remains as it was. Maybe a pointer to which stand gets extended first if an extension is happening…..

Interesting that. Wonder what stuff they use. Is it still white?

Someone will know no doubt, but another sign that these guys just get on with things..

If they do extend I hope they put the seats in the corners back to red ones like they used to be. Erase the last little bit of the Donald era.

Ahhhhhh Smug! It’s early morning here, what a nauseating sight. When you think of what it was like, and how it could be now it truly is scary. Thank god for KLD and his ambition, foresight and belief in this club. Don’t want to think about it but It could have been so, so different.

Yeah, white. The contrast is quite marked between the East and South stands.

Just watching this now. KLD is getting interviewed and he was asked why he bought Sunderland when he did. It was brought to his attention during COVID but he couldn't come to see it cos of it. He said that if he did come during league 1 days he probably wouldn't have bought us. All I can say is that **** for COVID!!!

Durham: Fans Museum opens at Prince Bishops Shopping Centre

    https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/n...-museum-opens-prince-bishops-shopping-centre/

A successful football-based pop-up museum has opened in the heart of Durham City after council grant funding.

Fans Museum CIC, which already runs a football museum in Sunderland, has launched the new venue at Prince Bishops Place Shopping Centre, Units 41–42. The museum features a large collection of football memorabilia, including shirts and items that visitors can try on.

It has been made possible through a grant from Durham County Council and the North East Combined Authority via the council’s Towns and Villages Programme.

Councillor Karen Allison, Durham County Council’s cabinet member for leisure, tourism, regeneration and high street, said: "This football pop-up museum will be a fantastic addition to Durham City and provide a unique experience for shoppers...

I saw the footy shirts in the window when I walked past recently but didn't realise it was part of the Fans Museum. I'll have a look next time I'm in the city centre.

I've just sent a brief message to our Mayor of the North East regarding post-match transport ath the SOL.

It's been regularly said, over the years, that the city of Sunderland revolves around SAFC which is probably true.

To be brief, again, the situation with trains/metro/ etc is a disgrace and I've decided not to just moan about this.

My train to Newcastle leaves at 5.07pm to make my connection to Edinburgh and on to Leven for around 9pm.

If there's more than 5mins injury time I have to choose between missing the end of the match or playing 'catch up' with trains I’m not actually supposed to use.

I daren't risk the Metro because it's a lottery whether or not they're too full to get on or whether they turn up or not.

Away fans have to play the same game of 'Russian roulette' for their flights/trains.

The Euros have just been awarded to Newcastle which is a massive deal imo, yet their stadium isn't as good as ours.

I believe that's because the transport, after concerts and matches, is ridiculously poor for a city like Sunderland.

If the stadium is expanded to 62,000 the situation will simply be even worse.

It's time we started putting pressure on everyone involved ...

... the club is bringing money, visitors, investment and pride into the city, time it was shown the respect it deserves.

Public Transport in the north east is a joke and has been for years. The private bus companies are only interested in making money, so have cut services in some areas but overloaded services in others. The fact that the 10, 11 and 20 now all run up Hylton road to the hospital is ridiculous as it's only to exploit the students living in Clanny House, but it's also cut off people living in the bottom part of Millfield (Cirencester Street and the new houses built on Pyrex).

The metro has never been great but has got worse. Less and less reliable, the new trains look smart but don't have many seats and aren't that comfortable. The fact that if there's any problems with a metro train between Sunderland and pelaw and it effectively shuts down the whole line. The same applies in reverse with heavy rail trains breaking down. The new extended metro plans are no more than pie in the sky and won't bare any resemblance of the real outcome in my opinion.

Heavy rail has been effectively starved of investment for years. The trains are old and rail companies have cut or reduced services in the name of improving profitably, pushing more people onto less services. Network rail are hopeless, dragging their feet on redevelopment with no medium or long-term thinking about how to improve the service.it feels like something serious has to happen before they get their arses in gear.

A proper, well thought out, integrated transport policy is vital for the future of the north east.
