Terrific attendances and the kind that people on here will have never seen at a City game in Hull. 25,000 is the biggest I've been in . Mind I remember going to Booth ferry Park and if we pushed anywhere near 15,000 it seemed a really good attendance .
Was there the last time we had over 40,000 and the last time we had over 30,000. Unfortunately I won’t see those attendances again.
I was a young nipper in 1965 when city played Millwall on Christmas Day at Boothferry Park, winning 1 0 - I sat on the edge of the pitch just over the metal fencing along with nany other children - crowd was over 40k - we then played Millwall again the very next day on Boxing Day at the Den when we lost 3 0 - two games in two days - having said that players were fitter then and not a bunch of fannies
34.000 for me. Watney cup semi final v Man U. Dad didn’t take me and my brother to the Stoke 6th round match.
You think we will be extending the stadium and filling it in our lifetime? Optimistic bugger, aren’t you?
Yes. Everyone always referred to it as a Boxing Day clash as Boxing Day was the Sunday so games were on the Monday. Anyone working thought they were lucky as it meant an extra day off. No shutting down for a fortnight then. Only us at school were not back at it on the 28th.
Me too, over 40,000 v Millwall Christmas 1965 for a third division game, the biggest crowd in the entire country on the day and for the last 30,000 plus crowd at BP v West Ham in the FA Cup. I'm sure we would have got bigger crowds in the later years if the authorities would let the crowds in. thinking Liverpool in the FA Cup and Scarboro in the league. Scandalous that the KC was built without taking into consideration the crowds City could attract before the capacity at Boothferry Park was cut.
please log in to view this image found this - said it was Hull City - presumably queuing along Boothferry Road to get onto the car park
I started going in 1976 regularly first game 1974 . Anything above double figures seemed good to me at the time
