Last two days with my Gramps. Just listening to him talking about how he casually popped over to the east side of germany when the wall was up because the steak was a 1/4 of the price. Apparently the guards were a bit blase and was easier to get in as he was chinese and they were commie mates with the soviets
Up at silly o’clock again today for another event probs won’t be back until around 10pm I’m saving up for a new bike so that’s the carrot for these ridiculous working hours
Morning. Won't be doing that again. It's a good thing that I'm **** at drinking because I love beer and wine. So on my birthday I drank 3 and a half pints of a fairly strong beer 5.4% and then a bottle of red wine 14.5% this is over about 7 hours. Spent all day yesterday with a hangover, proper mess. Ruined the day for me. I don't get how people can drink loads.
Talking to some old mates the other night about the amounts we used to drink on a day out, it was mental, thing is most of them still do it, last weekend 5 of them went to the darts, 10am meet in spoons, few beers there, get to darts 3 x 4 pint pitchers each there, then back to the local, stayed until midnight, the one bailed at 8, in his words 'totally ****ed' . I can't do it any longer, I enjoy 4 pints now, will have 6 at a push but thats usually my lot, orher than the odd occasion.
Her indoors wanted to go to the Lewes artists and makers fair. Absolute peak middle class noncery here.
I've always been like this though, my mates will go through 7 pints or more I can't imagine the state of be in.
Me and the missus have now gone on an alcohol break - week in and going OK - got some Guiness % for watching the Rugby (for me) today ... aim is to keep it going up to Xmas day ... As to tolerance, I think it builds with 'practice'... and age ... in our pomp we could both do a couple of beers and a bottle and a half of wine without real effect ... not big, not clever, and certainly not healthy... also very costly - now that would be starting around lunchtime whilst prepping the day's meal ... but all of the above still apply. A break every now and then is very sensible - not long before you start feeling the benefits - only problem is you have to get up and pee a lot during the first few nights and you also get a fierce detox headache around that time too ... worse than any hangover headache ...
