In case people don't know, there's a petition to sack Knapper on Change.org. It's been set up by Bridget, the woman who phoned in during the Canary Call meeting with Attanasio and who almost everyone agreed was mightily impressive as a spokesperson for those of us who want Knapper out.

I know petitions are just ignored, and may even be a bad thing because they give the impression of open speech and debate when they are really just a fake veneer, but I've signed it anyway. Every little helps in my opinion.

Luckily football clubs are not run by fans voting for decisions on or off the field .

I agree. Fans can voice opinions, but hiring and firing staff at the club is a matter for officers, the Board and the owners.

The petition is not a referendum with the power to hire and fire. It's an alternative to social media -- which many prefer to avoid -- through which people who have no voice on e.g. the Supporters Trust, can let their opinion be known.

Is it? Why then does it encourage people to circulate the petition via social media?

The man who invests his own money runs the club , if he gets us promoted then the investment pays off this season is going to be very expensive.

I think Luton used to be fan owned possibly still & it makes sense that those that have put their money where their mouth is to have a say in the decision making .

The baseball guy will be left with the bill & can hire & fire who he wants within reason .

The petition makes no reference to social media; the invitation to share is a feature of the platform hosting the petition, not the petition. I have no presence on social media; I did not learn about the petition from social media; I have no interest in "sharing" anything on social media; the petition enables me to "make my voice heard" on the issue without any involvement in social media.

Which is fine for you Robbie, but not for the person choosing the platform or others using social media to invite others to sign.

Personally, I'm neutral on Knapper. He's had some successes and some failures in recruitment, as Webber did, but I think the players we have will come good through the rest of the season. Much will now depend on the new manager coming in and how the injury situation improves. As always, time will tell.

I didn't put it here 'inviting' people to sign. They can sign it if they wish, or not sign it if they wish. I just did it in case anyone doesn't know about the petition.

Which leaves us with the question as to whether this site constitutes 'social media'. <laugh>
