Gray was a good coach and i can understand that appointment. WIgley's selection was bizarre .

I think that Tonda might prove to be a bit of a gem. Worthwhile giving him a chance until May and then make a decision.

That’s why if you give him the job it’s just til the end of the season.

Of the names at the top of the betting you can likely discount 4 of the top 6 for various reasons - Rodgers, Martin, O’Neil, Hassenhuttl. That leaves Tonda and Carrick. For Carrick it is a big relocation so who knows how he feels about that and right now I don’t think we are a job that he would jump at.

Of course there will be other managers not listed by bookies (there isn’t even a betting market for it now as far as I can see), but that will be greeted with the “some nobody from abroad with no Champ/English experience”

As usual we only know snippets of what happens, and that’s usually 3rd/4th hand so nobody has a clue. We may have already reached out to a few managers who all told us they weren’t interested. We may have reached out to nobody and always wanted Tonda to come in. Tonda could be the next bright young manager if given the chance. He could be proper **** and we get relegated. Nobody knows at this point.

Interesting reading Blackmores comments about how Spors saw him as a potential replacement for Still longer term. Seems like the thinking was we could “do a Brentford” and promote from within (like they did with Frank and now Andrews). Again reads as if SR are thinking 2/3 years ahead and not about the now.

I believe that Still was never really on their radar back in March/April and he became available unexpectedly and it was an opportunity seen as too good to pass up.

Let’s see how the next few games go as it sounds like Tonda is getting them. Get 7 points plus and I’m fine with keeping Tonda til the end of the season. Should be more choice then (if Tonda doesn’t work out). Will be a huge rebuild job in the summer regardless of what happens this season. Feels like we say that every year!

He never went on to do much in the game though and Saints was his first job and Hoddle left him a winning team and we dropped like a stone.

I haven't given up on this season yet and I don't think that Tonda has the experience to get us into the play-offs, it's another experiment.

Wigley did win a derby at least in fairness to him.

    I'd take that right now!

An experienced manager with a decent record, i'm sure there is one out there somewhere!

    Apparently they have interviewed 150!

Not fussed about where the experience or record comes from? (Within reason of course, not talking about John the manager of a Sunday pub team who’s won the league a few times)

Championship or PL would be ideal but a top league in Europe also.

Any names for the Champ or PL? I honestly can’t think of anyone realistic outside of Carrick or who has achieved even moderate success

Don't think they've interviewed 150, just that there were 150 applications.

Yeah maybe not the entire squad but having watched the utter dross for the last few seasons, who do you think cares from the starting 11? Not many of them. That's why I think we need a manager with a reputation and the balls to **** off those not interested

Apart from having to hear his voice, I don’t think Gerrard is a bad shout now

Even if they don't care about the club, they will obviously all care about their careers.

Relegations and playing poorly in the championship isn't going to help any of them when they move to another club. THB for example has gone from England international to lower end championship quality. I cant see a PL team looking at him after this and last season.

Good. Because he's totally on my **** list. <laugh>

Further to your point though I strongly feel that there's a core of them who are totally rotten. We've been through so many managers now of completely different styles, tactics and personalities that it's time to look at the character of the team itself

There are certainly individuals who seem more likely to kick up a fuss/down tools when they are unhappy, no doubt. But it could argued that maybe that is because they themselves are frustrated at the lack of ambition from the club, or the daft tactics/selections of certain managers.

It's easy to point the finger at, say, Downes, and I've been doing it too. But Juric was a f*cking prick, and we don't know the whole truth about what happened between them. It isn't fair to just assume Downes was the one in the wrong. As fans, we can't really relate to these players. We just think, '"Hey, that guy's being paid 50k a week, and yet he isn't giving his all on the pitch? What the f*ck? Get rid!". And that's it; that player is now the villain.

Seen Gerrard linked with the Boro job a fair bit

Hughton seems to have disappeared from management, must be 5 years since his last job at least?
