Ides I used to like 'Mixing it' which was Radio 3's programme which featured experimental music and was an eclectic mix. The current jazz programming is in too late. I quite like some world music like Fstoumata Diawara, Angelique Kidjo, etc. If the BBC goes , this kind of music will not get played on commercial radio.
What is the difference between Derry and Londonderry? Generally, although not always, nationalists favour using the name Derry, and unionists Londonderry. Legally, the city and county are called "Londonderry", while the local government district containing the city is called "Derry City and Strabane".
If you like political analysis and lots of bubble maps, this is very interesting. Its main focus is on Labour for Labour people but a good read and interesting results! Labour at the Margin... ...of survival https://benansell.substack.com/p/labour-at-the-margin
Read all about it. Some proper journalism. Three years ago, after the Martin Bashir scandal, BBC boss Tim Davie tried to prevent future crises by appointing two “external editorial experts” to scrutinise BBC journalism. Oddly, both came from PR rather than journalism. One, ex-Sunday Times political editor turned lobbyist Michael Prescott, had worked at PR firm Hanover alongside a former Tory press officer and right-wing hacks. While at the BBC, Prescott raised internal concerns about editorial standards - but after leaving this summer, he went to his old media contacts with a list of the BBC’s failings. So in the end, the man who Davie (ironically considered a Tory) appointed in 2022 to stop the next crisis ended up causing his demise. Full story in the new Private Eye, out now.
It did not become Londonderry until after Oliver Cromwell in 17th century and i believe the new name originated from Protestant immigrants to Ireland and not the inhabitants. It has nothing to do with London and is the vestige of a 400 year old devisive repopulation.
Good read on spiked This is how MAGA falls A combination of internal divisions and economic struggles could doom Donald Trump's movement. https://www.removepaywall.com/searc...online.com/2025/11/12/this-is-how-maga-falls/
All PCC roles in England and Wales are planned to be abolished in 2028 and is expected to save at least £100 million and help fund neighbourhood policing YAY!
They didn't build the city until the early 17thC, there was a monastery and a bit of settlement but nothing major. As per usual it was put there as a big **** you to the Irish. Mostly a garrison I believe. Always been officially Londonderry
Ai is getting out of hand! Would have taken weeks if not more to put this together for real! TRIGGER WARNING - No I'm not making a joke there. Some characters are dead and very controversial BBC figures!

Except to the majority of people who live there. Must unionist people who live there call it Derry even. I have friends from that side of the community who are from there and it's Derry, unless they are trying to wind me or someone else up
If the British people want a low tax, low spend, low wage economy - and that’s exactly what Reform are offering - then be prepared for Dickensian levels of poverty.
I was born in Northern Ireland as was my father . I have friends there , all the people I know call it Londonderry .
Not at all , honestly . Just expressing my personal opinion . The Bronze and others are perfectly entitled to their opinion and I respect that .
