Clearly we have an excellent side. If you could add one ex Sunderland player, from your time watching the lads, to add to the side and make a difference, who would it be? I settled on Bent. I know it was short lived but he was borderline the perfect premier league striker. And he thrived when playing the lone striker role. I think he would love playing in this side and would be close to 15 goals a season. I did really think Phillips. How can you leave a golden boot winner out. But I just thought Bents style of play was a better fit.
It sort of feels like we need one of those players that is a figure of fun. Doesnt feel right not to have one player to argue over being ****e in the pub.
It would have to be SKP. Fox in the box and bloody good outside of it anawl. I laugh at having Xhaka at the club but that’s in disbelief.
Amad Diallo in our current set up. Would add so much threat to our attack down that right hand side. julio at a in his prime left back, or a marauding micky gray. They’re the two positions I think we are weakest - LB, RW/mid
I`d love to see McFadzean in the team simply to demonstrate how far we have come...he`s "make a difference" but not in a good way!
One for us oldies....Johnny Crossan, would be classed as a No 10 today, intelligent, good feet and an eye for a goal..
I'd go for a 'peak of his talent' Kieron Brady with RLB and the coaches giving him equal measures of guidance and freedom. He was Amad before Amad was Amad ... ... totally unafraid of big lumpy defenders, ignored inflated reputations and with a talent that was inbred not practiced. I missed his Roker Park debut, by accident, but the lads still talk about it ... still gutted.
