Gray was a good coach and i can understand that appointment. WIgley's selection was bizarre . I think that Tonda might prove to be a bit of a gem. Worthwhile giving him a chance until May and then make a decision.
That’s why if you give him the job it’s just til the end of the season. Of the names at the top of the betting you can likely discount 4 of the top 6 for various reasons - Rodgers, Martin, O’Neil, Hassenhuttl. That leaves Tonda and Carrick. For Carrick it is a big relocation so who knows how he feels about that and right now I don’t think we are a job that he would jump at. Of course there will be other managers not listed by bookies (there isn’t even a betting market for it now as far as I can see), but that will be greeted with the “some nobody from abroad with no Champ/English experience” As usual we only know snippets of what happens, and that’s usually 3rd/4th hand so nobody has a clue. We may have already reached out to a few managers who all told us they weren’t interested. We may have reached out to nobody and always wanted Tonda to come in. Tonda could be the next bright young manager if given the chance. He could be proper **** and we get relegated. Nobody knows at this point. Interesting reading Blackmores comments about how Spors saw him as a potential replacement for Still longer term. Seems like the thinking was we could “do a Brentford” and promote from within (like they did with Frank and now Andrews). Again reads as if SR are thinking 2/3 years ahead and not about the now. I believe that Still was never really on their radar back in March/April and he became available unexpectedly and it was an opportunity seen as too good to pass up. Let’s see how the next few games go as it sounds like Tonda is getting them. Get 7 points plus and I’m fine with keeping Tonda til the end of the season. Should be more choice then (if Tonda doesn’t work out). Will be a huge rebuild job in the summer regardless of what happens this season. Feels like we say that every year!
He never went on to do much in the game though and Saints was his first job and Hoddle left him a winning team and we dropped like a stone.
I haven't given up on this season yet and I don't think that Tonda has the experience to get us into the play-offs, it's another experiment.
An experienced manager with a decent record, i'm sure there is one out there somewhere! Apparently they have interviewed 150!
Not fussed about where the experience or record comes from? (Within reason of course, not talking about John the manager of a Sunday pub team who’s won the league a few times)
