We ought to. We are a big club and should be looking to get back in the PL, the most prestigious league in the world. I can’t see why we wouldn’t be an attractive proposition, unless SR aren’t prepared to pay enough. Plenty to play for this season, when we don’t get promoted it won’t reflect on the manager. Win win.
If we beat Charlton, I'd let Tonda see how far he can take it. Might as well. I just really, really can't see us getting a result there. To Jones it will be like a derby game, and he will get his players fired up for it.
Yeah draw at best for me. They've been brilliant at home and are everything we're not. They've conceded the least amount of goals in the league too I think so we'll be relying on a bit of magic from Leo to score.
We are a championship club and as last season showed, we are are a long way off PL. We are also getting through multiple managers every season. We will either attract a failed PL manager, an average championship manager like Carrick, or someone doing well in the lower leagues. Not exactly spoilt for choice so if we already have someone winning for us then we may as well give him a chance.
Listening to Adam Blackmore tonight he has hinted that there isn’t a manager that the club fancy at the moment and that a bit of politics is going in within the club.
To me it feels a bit early in his career for Tonda. Finding a manager shouldn't be THAT hard. Unless word has got around the football world that the club's a basket case and any manager should steer clear of us. While "world class" may be slightly out of our league we should still be one of the most attractive jobs outside the Premier League.
Hmm. I worry they're too wedded to these hipster appointments. To be honest I'd probably take Pardew back at this point.
Thing is, most established managers, will want a three year contract, worth several million per year. If they fail in their first year to turn us around, and the fans want rid again, it will cost the club another small fortune. Tonda is free. He has just won two games. You just never know, he might turn out to be good. Probably not, but then it won't cost anything to dump him.
Yay for our Sport Republic overlords. Once again totally ****ing a season before anyone's had a sniff of a mince pie. If it's Tonda we're in for a rough, rough next 5 years
He failed to even make the playoffs, despite having a beast of a squad by League One standards, and a striker who bagged 29 goals.
Five matches maybe. Not sure where you get five years from. If he's crap, he won't keep the job long.
Harsh. We started the season on -12 points, with the likes of Matt Paterson, Jake Thomson & Anthony Pulis, and started preseason still in administration with Mark Wotte im charge. We didn't sign the likes of Connolly till October, Fonte, Barnard and Puncheon till January. The fact we come within touching distance of the playoffs that season was a ****ing miracle, really.
It was -10 points but yeah, while we ended the season with a great squad we started it with nothing which is why we'd only won one game at the start of October. He also turned around the mentality of a deflated club and changed the course of Rickie Lambert's career.
Minus ten wasn't it? We probably should have still made the play offs but I think the JPT run played a part and we weren't ready for a promotion that season. As mentioned the other week Pardew should hold a special place in our history if only for Rickie getting in shape though.
Five years. 2025-2026 = Mid table. Shy of the play offs by about 7 points 2026-2027= Relegation. Lots of talk in pre season about having to cut costs, lose our only 2 good players (again) 2027-2028= Administration. Points deduction but we stay in the league. 2028-2029= Start racking up penalty points but SR finally **** off 2029-2030= Back to square one hoping for another Marcus. Appointing Tonda full time is the beginning of the end. SR are clearly ****ing desperate to appoint him but know the fans aren't happy. So they prime their pet journos about how there isn’t a rush and hope and pray that Tonda picks up enough points to take the edge of a decision they made weeks ago. SR out
