Do we get them both to “Take” yellows against Fulham and miss the Man City game? In order to get them both back for the mags? If they aren’t booked by 87 minutes!! I’d say yes for Dhaka for definite personally!!
I am sure I'm missing something but why would a care against Fulham mean they are banned for Man City? Isn't it Bournemouth after and thought it was only a one match ban for 5 cards? I expect them both to get a ban before the mags?
When I posted this, three or four weeks back, I got the impression people thought I was overreacting. The closer it gets the more serious it becomes in my opinion.
Hahahaha. Oops. Yeah you’re right!!! I honestly didn’t realise We had that many games before the Mags!! There are 4 between now and then!!
I think you have to keep playing them all the way to the Man City game. If they ain’t copped bans by then , keep em off the pitch and give them a rest pre Mags Fulham, Bournemouth & Mags all winnable, so we want full squads/teams out for those matches. Hopefully Diara is fit by then. I really hope his injury has ruled him out of Afcon. You’d think so.. By the time Afcon early stages is over, the yellow card ban will be reset by the time we play Spuds on 4th Jan
If they havnt picked up a ban before the game before Newcastle, rest them on the game before Newcastle. Xhaka, especially, could probably benefit with a mini break. No better time for one than before the town game.
Thought I was cracking up mate! I reckon they will get a card in the next 2, one probably agaonst Fulham and the other at Bournemouth.
Exactly what I think will happen. Both are very good shouts for cards anyway, never mind a possible tactical suspension
Man City away, even with us at full strength, will unlikely result in a win. And the fact we will likely spend most of the game chasing them around the pitch and putting in plenty of last ditch tackles in, yellow cards being dished out will almost be a certainty. Also, Xhaka and Sadiki, knowing that one slightly mistimed tackle might mean missing the derby, could find themselves being less effective and result in them being a hindrance rather than an asset in this case. We might as well have 2 lesser players on the pitch, jumping at the opportunity, who wont mind putting the graft in and sticking their foot in and risk receiving a yellow card. Who knows? Maybe our chances of sneaking a point might be improved by Xhaka and Sadiki not playing (though probably not ) The potential of missing our 2 engines in midfield against Newcastle will be a kick in the bollocks that we as fans, and the players as a team, might struggle to recover from. However, if we were playing anybody other than Man City (Away) I could possibly lean towards your reasoning. Hopefully they will pick up a yellow card sooner rather than later so we wont have to worry about it.
I'd not change anything for the saudis tbh. There not exactly playing well atm we've played way better teams then them this season and we've not needed to do anything silly. I'd imagine regis has everything planned out and it will be them thats worrying. They've got way bigger fish to fry then little old sunderland! I mean they've got there eyes on champions league glory not how there going to play against relegation certanties down the road.
...and the longer they keep thinking that way the better, as far as I'm concerned. They're in for a rude awakening. It's interesting to see that Shearer has come out today and reiterated what he said before, that Arsenal have probably faced their toughest game of the season last weekend. The Skunks are getting restless and worried, and have every right to be.
