    Afternoon all.

For those who might be interested, next Wednesday (12 November) sees a special launch event for my new book, 'Special Attraction - Another Journey through Hull, Hell & Happiness', which was released on Monday through Pitch Publishing. The event is taking place at the Stags Head Inn, Lelley and details of it can be found via the above link.

'Special Attraction' is the follow-up to 'Not All Ticket' (one of Rich 'The Decade' Gardham's "favourite books of all time" no less) and follows my time supporting City through the years 1988 to 1997, from the appointment of Eddie Gray to the dismissal of Terry Dolan, taking in along the way: fanzines, the Liverpool cup-tie of 89, the disastrous 1990/91 and 1995/96 seasons, that first Tiger shirt, the emergence of Deano, a bit of local music (including Hull's World Cup rap for Italia 90) and memories of the sights and sounds of the city in the 90s. Oh, and a bit of rugby league too. For those looking for a credible recommendation, 'Hull City Kits' himself, Les Motherby wrote, 'Hardy souls who followed City at it's lowest ebb(s) have the best tales, and remind us that the social and cultural stuff around football is as important as the game itself.' Hopefully, the book proves him right!

Details of the launch event, which is hosted by Matt Rudd, can be found in the first link above and I'm delighted to have Alan Fettis (who wrote the foreword to the book) appearing as a guest. He will talk about his time at City and beyond, and will also be available to sign copies on the night. There will also be a Q&A with both Alan and myself, while HCK Les will be displaying his collection of matchworn shirts from the era. And it's FREE.

It promises to be a good night - if you'd like to come along please follow the link above and register your interest with the Stag to given them some idea of numbers. Copies of 'Special Attraction' will be on sale on the night at £18 each (cash if possible!) . Alternatively, message me direct and I can arrange to get copies - signed by Alan - sent to you afterwards.

    Thanks for your time!

Attended and it was an excellent launch @MisterSlush, cheers, plenty of memories of the dark but fun City days in the 90's, the fanzines, the Fish Out Dolan Out protests and resorting to playing goalkeepers as strikers with the legend Alan Fettis there in person to tell the tale.

Thanks for the nice feedback. The idea was to share some memories and shift some books, so on that score alone it was a win-win. And as was stated on the night, the era was bleak in so many ways but we tried to make the best of it.

As an aside, the fact that Alan Fettis drove across from his new job at Everton to be in attendance in a pub out in the sticks, then be the perfect guest before facing up to a late night drive back along the M62 is just indicative of the man. And as he told me, he has enjoyed being reminded of what for him was an enjoyable time in his career (regardless of the 'outside noise').
