Good Morning. It's Thursday 12th November, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Farke given four games to turn things around

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke appears, for now, to have avoided the dreaded axe, if reports from the Daily Mail (often seen as the mouth piece for 49ers Enterprises) and the Yorkshire Evening Post are to be believed. Graham Smyth has gone so far as to say he would be “stunned” if Farke was dismissed at this stage, pointing to the German’s tactical adaptability and solid point-per-game return in the top flight this season.

Patience has been a hallmark of 49ers Enterprises’ leadership style, with their reluctance to move quickly evidenced by their delayed decision-making during Russell Martin’s troubled spell at Rangers. Both Farke and the Elland Road hierarchy were under no illusions about the challenges this season would present, yet with Leeds struggling, questions are inevitably being asked about whether he is extracting full value from his squad.

According to the Daily Mail, Farke was informally handed a five-match window to turn results around, with Nottingham Forest earmarked as the most winnable fixture in that stretch, a game that ultimately slipped from his grasp. Five days have passed since that defeat, and the fact no action has been taken during the current international break, a period traditionally used by clubs to make managerial changes, suggests his position is safe for now.

However, the forthcoming run of fixtures, Aston Villa at home, Manchester City and Chelsea away, followed by Liverpool at home, presents an uphill battle. On current form, Leeds would be lucky to pick up a total of three points, and would surely see his Elland Road tenure come to an end - but many see this as postponing the inevitable!

Nmecha perfectly suited to Farke' system - Cross

New York Times journalist Beren Cross recently weighed in on Leeds United’s current position in the league and the success of their summer recruitment. Consecutive defeats have left the Whites perilously close to the relegation zone, yet Cross believes their performances merit a higher standing in the league. He was particularly positive about the club’s summer recruitment, which saw ten new players arrive for a net spend of £93 million. Among the signings, free-transfer addition Nmecha has been singled out as a success story
having stayed fit and looks perfectly suited to Farke's system as a physical, hard-running, aerially strong target man. He is the ideal backup to Calvert-Lewin, even if he may not quite have the same finesse.

However, he stressed that more time is needed to fully evaluate the contributions of other recruits such as Bijol, Bornauw, and Perri. Among the standout additions so far, Gudmundsson and Longstaff have arguably been the most impactful, while Stach, Calvert-Lewin, and Okafor have produced a blend of strong and serviceable performances. Despite this, Cross rejected the notion that Leeds have exceeded expectations, noting that their current standing feels about right given an inviting run of opening fixtures.

In fact, he argued that Leeds could easily be higher up the table had they not dropped valuable points against Fulham, Bournemouth, and Tottenham Hotspur. Unfortunately for Daniel Farke, momentum has deserted them in the last couple of games, and despite Nmecha's goal at the City ground, Leeds have not looked like scoring, and at the same time, are unravelling at the back, conceding six in two games.

    Morning all

Farke has 4 games.to.tirn things round.... Villa, Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool... Just sack.him now. If we can't beat Burnley then what makes the board think he can pick up anything from those 4.

Morning all and it is Wednesday

It's safe to say, we are not getting many points from the next 4 games so two scenarios, well three as the third would be keep Farke.

If we are going to replace him, do we do it now before we are in the bottom three and whoever we have lined up to replace him (I am assuming the owners do have someone) doesn't get scared off, as getting out of the bottom three is harder than staying out of it, also with an International break the Liverpool game is the 6th December, sacking him after the 4th game would possibly mean our replacement goes elsewhere.

Maybe we are hoping someone else gets the sack and we are waiting for them

Second scenario we get someone in sooner rather than later, let's assume after the Villa game then a new coach more than likely ends up with three straight defeats

I think I would give Farke Villa, if we win I would want to see a battling performance against both City and Chelsea.

If we lose to Villa and City I would show him the door and give the new coach two free hits against Chelsea and Liverpool

I never thought forest under Dyke was the most winnable fixture.... always thought Villa was the most winnable fixture. They've hit a run of results at the wrong time, for us, to give them confidence but Bournemouth apart they've not really played that well. 2 screamers and a deflection helped flatter the scoreline against Bournemouth who had a penalty saved and hit the woodwork. Their league position flatters them.

So when we capitulate at home to villa, i'll join the doom mongerers.<cheers>

    Morning all,

May as well concentrate on the cup. Win that and go into Europe next season as a Championship side.

    Happy days

chelsea and liverpool games are both within a week of the city game, so even with a new guy lined up, i'm not sure he gets his feet under the table never mind takes a training session. Realistically its now or after liverpool. Clearly we'll have the new boy all lined up and then beat liverpool to muddy the waters.

No point sacking Farke at all unless they have someone much better lined up. After the fiasco at Rangers and the reluctance of any credible coaches linked when Farke took over, I have very little confidence in them getting anyone any better at all.
All this Red Bull ex manager links, where is that coming from, what have they actually done for us in the transfer market, folk were getting giddy about all their contacts and scouting , they did sweet f a

they won't sack him, Marathe put an arm round him end of last season and said 'he's my man'. Sure it took him a few weeks to do it, but i'm sure there were reasons. Those kind of gestures aren't empty promises. They'll stick with him through thick and thin, because we're in this together.

    obviously

Anyone else a little bit sick of listening to Smyth and Cross who just trot out the usual pro club lines. No journalism there at all.

if we wait until January we end up doing what we did badly last time after sacking Bielsa. It really needs to happen now and maybe on Monday after that Forest abortion. Holding on in the hope that Daniel can take any points from our next four games is optimistic at best and stupid in reality. We will be in 19th place before Xmas folks. Just once I would like to see DF hold his hand up and take the blame for a change. It’s always the players or the club not getting him the striker he wanted.

I also believe it’s crisis time at Leeds and the international players should have been stopped from going so that things get discussed even if it means rows and fisticuffs. What’s the point it allowing our Captain who has been crap in the last 2 games to go off and have a nice break from the issues at his club?

    • Nottingham Forest (6/5)
      Aston Villa
      7/5
Yeah Villa still the bigger price compared to Forest, and they shortened after the 2 contrasting Sunday results.

Farke will be sacked this season, if not then 49ers are accepting relegation and then have Farke get us promoted again ... this is a stupid strategy, can't see 49ers thinking this way ... for Leeds to genuinely be able to compete in the Prem, the club needs to be in it for at least three straight seasons to get to a more level PSR against the rest

So if Farke isn't going to survive, then now is the time to move him on ... if you believe in the new manager, you don't protect him from the next 4 fixtures, you throw him in and let him and the team crack on ... if you really see the next 4 games as free hits, then give the new guy the luxury of those free hits to settle in and get the team understanding what is needed

No time to waste, Farke has to be replaced immediately ... no consulting with players, no more chances, just do it ... if Farke manages to burgle a win like Marsch did at Anfield, Farke will stay at least until end January, and then it's all too late ... by that srtage we will only be able to get another Gracia or Dinosaur in, and we'll be totally fkd!!!

Interesting the comments what will or wont happen. Nobody has a clue outside the four walls of the boardroom. Not employees or fans or keyboard managers
