Was that the year we played Walsall as well thinking about it? Could easily have got 3 across those games.
He got a banger against Man City in a cup game if I recall correctly and on his debut or around his debut he played one of the best passes I’ve seen for a KWP goal Getting a bit teary eyed about him now
Can’t remember that one. Just Watford and then losing to Liverpool. Actually yeah we beat someone crap in the 3rd round, Fraser scored one or two. Maybe that was Walsall
If we had a preferred candidate you’d have thought that we’d have appointed them by now. It’s also incredibly quiet, there’s been no leaks at all other than incorrect ones like O’Neil. So at this stage it does feel like Tonda will get the next couple and then we’ll appoint someone, as others have said. I’m not sure SR will give it to him permanently, but you never know with them.
I bet SR want to give it to Tonda because he'll be cheap and it's a classic SR 'clever' appointment. They're just scared of what happened with Selles. Probably trying to get him to sign up to a rolling contract or something so that they don't have to pay him off in a month when it turns out we only won these last two games because the opposition were poor and not because he's a managerial genius. Then they can move him on without having to count towards their long list of managerial hirings and sackings. He was only ever interim boss, honest. Not that I'm sceptical about SR or anything...
Not necessarily. And I don't think O'Neill was incorrect, I think there was genuine interest there to begin with. I just think they are taking their time which is the right way to go.
Correct to take their time but let’s not forget that this process would (should) have started before Still was sacked, so they’ve had several weeks now. Possibly reflective that there’s not many great options.
They might of had names and ideas, but it would be disrespectful to start any actual process prior to Stills sacking They again left it until the job got untenable and they were almost forced into sacking him.
I can see Tonda being in place for at least the next three games due to the fact they're all over a week straight after the break. I have no issue with that provided we are picking up points and seeing a bit of football. Tonda: 6 pts, 5 goals, 2 conceded in 2 games (2W) Still: 6pts, 6 goals, 10 conceded in 7 games (1W, 3D, 3L) Same players, albeit different opposition etc etc but if we keep picking up points in the interim I'm not too concerned on how long the interim is. Would assume if we are changing (or appointing Tonda) it's done before the end of the year in time to plan for the window.
New favourite with the bookies for the Swansea job, Kim Hellberg, 37 year old Hammarby manager. Seems a pretty random name to jump into favourite without something behind it
Not really based on much but I reckon we were really keen on O'Neill but fan reaction and/or him not being interested put an end to it.
Not that random apparently. Just Swans did a report on possibilities and named him as 'most likely' - apparently was very close to getting the gig before they appointed Sheehan. Who knew? (Not me).
