No league game next weekend. 4 from today have to play, some young Welsh lads are away and there’s a few injuries so from who’s left BBM should pick Turner and as many first teamer’s available; maybe a kid or two but that didn’t go too well v Newport. At the end of the day it’s a cup competition with a trophy to go for.
Not having a good day. Must try harder. Might as well randomly post $h!t all over the place. It'll find it's way home eventually.
I suppose a high scoring draw might get us through in second place, if the other match is a low scoring draw?
Just looking at the ticket site, not many seats sold for the Arsenal game at the moment, with only three blocks of the grandstand open. At least the queue for coffee at half time should be too long
Just found this.............. "In the event of a drawn game after 90 minutes, a penalty shoot-out will be held, with the winning team earning an additional point." Apparently you get a point for the draw at 90 minutes and a bonus point for winning on penalties. So a draw will do us at full time as long as we win the penalty shoot out................
A view from WoL on tomorrow's game. It is understood no senior players will be considered for selection for this fixture.
I actually said this many years ago, introduce this rule to EFL games and nobody will leave the ground during a turgid 0-0 draw, England were exiting tournaments at the penalty shoot out stage because they didn't have the bottle or experience of the pressure of facing a GK one on one within a noisy environment. just imagine what it would do to the prediction league 2-2 please FFB with Trott scoring the winner at 10-10
They've gone for the system of awarding the full 3 points for a win in normal game time, but just 2 points for winning through a penalty shoot out. That would tend to push teams to win during normal time for the extra point rather than shutting up shop and going for the shoot out - I quite like that.
Don’t we have to start with four players from the team that played Blackpool? With so many first team and youngsters away on international duty it should be an interesting line up tonight.
For EFL clubs Minimum of four qualifying outfield players in their starting XI. A qualifying outfield player was one who met any of the following requirements: Any player who started the previous or following first-team fixture. Any player who is in the top 10 players at the club who has made the most starting appearances in league and domestic cup competitions this season. Any player with forty or more first-team starting appearances in their career, including International matches. Any player on loan from a Premier League club or any EFL Category One Academy club. A club can play any eligible goalkeeper in the competition.
Which is how it should work 3 points for a win 2 points for a penalty win after a draw (90mins) 1 point for a penalty defeat after a draw (90mins) 0 points for a defeat Season tickets behind the goals will also be easier to sell (half a chance of it being a decent seat occasionally)
Salech, Robinson, Kellyman, Wintle, Turnbull, Robertson (?), Ng, Bagan, Chambers,Trott all meet the criteria if fit.
Not sure how this meets the selection criteria. Feel a bit sorry for Turner. Well, for all the players. Not really an opportunity for them. Cardiff City XI: Turner; Kingdon, Keita, Debono, Parfitt; Apter, Twose, Perrett; Spiers, George, Ola. Subs: Dennis, J. Davies, Hobson, Pearce, Watts, Hilaire-Clarke, Sykes.
So where’s the four players who played in the last game? Or will four of these be playing in the next fixture. Baffled!
