Ah mate that's superb. I'm through to do a Factory Acceptance Test on some site equipment in Newcastle tomorrow morning. Not been since the Friday dinner time when it emerged that Nordi was actually flying into Sunderland North to sign for us rather than them. That day they were pissing themselves that there were rumours that he was coming here and we were all deluded. I'd not heard anything about him potentially joining us then so was a bit non-plussed at their antics. Was just heading out of the factory when it emerged he was coming here. Absolute pin drop. I've had a few calls since that we have been lucky, easy start etc, not so much the last couple of weeks mind. They will be expecting me to go in full of myself tomorrow but don't know me at all. I'll be ultra professional, all about the work and job, They don't know how to deal with that at all and will be desperate to engage, I'll allow myself a wry smile on leaving.
That's the perfect attitude mate, fair play to you, as you say it'll kill them. I keep saying to my Mag relatives that I'm amazed we're grinding out results without Diarra, Mundle, etc
Paddy Power are hammering the Mags at the moment, so much so that I think there must be some sort of 'Saudi grudge' ... ... I noticed a post from Arsenal today saying they're loving the Mackems and totally off the Geordies. The tide is turning.
They certainly have. Don't mind Arsenal personally but the fact that its taken Arteta about seven years to get to this point and we got promoted on 24th May 2025 having finished 20 odd points behind Leeds and Burnley seems a little lost on them. That said, I've had messages from Arsenal, City, Liverpool and Villa supporting mates/workmates over the weekend and today and the consensus is that we are a very real threat in games against the top sides, the Arsenal and Liverpool lads in particular are very grounded individuals not disposed to hyperbole and they believe that we carry enough to be in the mix for Europe this season. Hope they are right, we need our key players to remain fit and firing obviously, but as chuffed as I was with our performance on Saturday night, I can't help but think of what might have been but for Saka's goal. They are a cracking side but in truth, whilst they had plenty of possession in the game, we'd not been in any trouble until we gave him that chance.
Seeing more and more Mags on socials coming out and complimenting us. The display, the team, the lot. That’s genuine fear. That’s self preservation and emotional preparation. It’s beautiful. Especially given that most of us likely accept the probability is we still finish below them. Them % points are shifting mind.
Professional way, mate. It winds them up more. From personal experience, they love to dish stuff out but hate it coming back to them and will expect you to dish it out. That way they can try and drag you down to their level, but keeping the high ground will infuriate some of them far more and they won't be able to help themselves coming out with rubbish, which only makes them look worse and get more infuriated.
