As a lifetime supporter I am deeply upset that heath issues now prevent me getting to games, so now I thoroughly enjoy reading other posters' contributions on match threads, and in particular the post match reaction. So I was disappointed yesterday to find so much of the thread following a decent win taken over by a 'discussion' about the role of Rememberance Day.

I'm not criticising the views of the poster who came in with the issue. Much of it was eloquently expressed, but it was misplaced. There is a valid argument for not recognising events outside of football. Although I would point out that as a football community we do acknowledge victims of disasters, terrible crimes, and so on and if it gives us an opportunity to stand silent for a moment in recognition of a national event I see no harm in that. However, it should not be valid to raise tthis in a match report. That this board has a politics thread is brilliant, and that was the place for this discussion, and hopefully it may not have degenerated in the way it did.

    Over to you, Mods!

Not sure this is needed either, Norv. That was very much a one-off circle of the drain, and everyone has packed their feelings away now. It’s done, and it’s very unlikely to happen again like that on a match thread.

Couldn’t have put it better. The discussion was relevant to the match thread as the remembrance ceremony took place at the match. All discussion has now stopped, and I don’t think there is a need to keep this thread open for further debate.

I appreciate your concern though Norv.
