Yes but my point is if someone is injured they should not be on the bench no matter how short we are of numbers. Jones put eight players out on loan. With the current injury crisis this has put a lot of pressure on the squad. We have Fullah starting and Keenan Gough on the bench who is nowhere near ready. Assimwe, Zack and Alex Mitchell are well ahead of Gough.
NJ saying in his post match that Bree, jones Ramsey should not of played today. But had to due to injuies at moment Olaofe tweaked a hamstring. Leaburn rolled his ankle in training. With Bell, Edwards, Godden, Burke, Kelman all out injured longer term. We also have Assimwe, two Mitchell’s, Taylor, Kanu, Ahadme, Dixon, Mbick out on loan. Our squad isn’t just thin it is transparent. The international break has come at the right time.
Never a good sign when you are being forced to select players who are not fit…it tends to lead to even worse outcomes in the long run. NJ has always said he wants to work with a small squad, and this is the consequence. Let’s hope yet another season is not derailed by our non stop injury issues.
I think the main root of our injury issues is that Jones pushes them too hard in training. Plus we play a high pressing game that takes its toll. We need to keep and pass the ball better. Too much aimless hoofing. You get a neck ache watching Charlton.
Probably some truth in that, plus we have signed a lot of players at the more mature end of their careers who have had fitness problems. Most of them also happen to come from Luton Town.
