As much as I think Ian posts some far fetched tripe at times, this is probably the most least offending post he’s written in a while….

I'm sure most of these managers follow the money. Win or lose their bank balance gets bigger

I'm afraid that the concept of anyone apart from the fans actually caring about 'their' club no longer exists. Players and managers are employees, who get (usually very well) paid to perform. One can have rose-tinted nostalgia about players playing for their boyhood club, and/or managers managing their local team, but it all comes down to money. Owners of clubs, at least at our level, are more often than not overseas interests, who employ foreign people to entice overseas managers, who then use their overseas links to purchase overseas players. Add to that the player agents who expect, and usually receive, wildly inflated fees for English players, and we end up with the only 'local' thing about any club being the fans themselves. Even that is being eroded, as shown by the multinational TV deals, enabling viewers (aka fans) in other countries to watch football. Once the AI-generated crowd, with accompanying noises, are added to the soundtrack, football matches could take place anywhere in the world, but us fans will still consider that we have a club and team to support.

Still, we won, so we're heading for the promised land of the Premier League, where real people stand and watch real players who are picked by real managers, and paid by real owners. Bring back scarves, football rattles and unnecessarily hot cups of Bovril, that's what I say!

Am very much in the no need to rush camp.

Eckert thrust into a difficult situation to steady our **** season and he has come through it with credit.

Whoever we appoint, I hope he sticks around with the under 21s or another capacity as I think he is an asset to the club.

What he has done in a week, he has been a Knight in shinning armour.

In fact back in 1999, Blur sang about him.
    Tonda is the knight.

reading their forum Robins seems the popular choice who they think they can get. Not sure why they think they could get him given the league positions, as when he was talked about on here everyone thought we would have no chance.

Possibly. Apparently he was someone they looked at before hiring Manning, they also turned Will Still down for the job. Not many seem keen on Martin

They took the bristol city manager when they were much higher in the table so maybe they think it would happen again.

They are deluded though. Robins wouldnt leave for anyone in this division.
