He was my first choice back when we appointed Jones, so would be happy to have him here now. So many Champ managers feel like they are on the verge of leaving though so could be a lot of different clubs being referred to
I don't really get why so many want Corberan. Did a decent job at West brom, but has been sacked in every other job and never achieved anything of note. He is likely to be sacked by Valencia shortly too.
Pilchards on SaintsWeb has mentioned Brendan Rodgers. Not sure how ITK he is these days, but pretty sure, back in the day, he was rhe first to mention Nathan Jones about 6 weeks before it happened.
My initial thought was that I don't want Rodgers, but I think that's just because he is a twat Ignoring his personality, he would be the best manager we could realistically hope for.
I'd argue it would be a very impressive appontment, to be honest, and a bit beyond our level. Would be a very good appointment (his personality aside) We shall see.
Yeah his CV is a lot better than where we currently are. There will be some who don’t want him because he’s a twat and from his comments 10 years ago Clearly far better on paper than any of the other names being linked
Also ticks all three of the criteria listed the other day: Managed in the Champ Managed a side expected to win every week Big personality But yeah I don’t see him wanting the job so pretty irrelevant
I think Rogers is a big step above most of the others being mentioned. The thing I think is most relevant here would be going right back to his Swansea period. Replicating that with us would be fantastic. I’d still be pretty surprised if he were remotely interested in us though
Would his ego drop this low? Doubt it. He is a dislikable twat but can’t see him taking any **** from the players either, has plenty of experience in management and would probably hold the respect of the egos in our squad.
Whilst I agree he is arguably above our level, when you think about it, who would want him that is bigger than us? I dont think a prem side would go for him, so that leaves the championship or abroad. In the championship, Leicester is an obvious no, Ipswich won't get rid of McKenna (he won't go to Celtic), and i don't think the likes of Boro are a bigger draw than us. We are probably his best chance of getting back to the premier league.
Didn’t someone mention Leeds if they bin Farke? Could see a relegation side in the PL going for him and that would give him a better chance of PL football than us
And in his interviews talking about how great Pompey are and what a huge achievement it would be to finish above them.
Not seen any links to Leeds and they might not even sack Farke. They are doing alright, can't see them sacking him any time soon.
