speaking of which think dashvilli is looking far more comfortable / confident now he has had a few games and got used to the team or else because he is now getting some protection
Nah mate. Once its at you then you can get hands up. Its surprisingly easy compared to having to react and move. Vvds was higher so hands go up and he gets it. The macallister one has gone right through him, as his hands have gone up too high. The Ekitike header for example. Again high and at him and he makes a Hollywood effort of a save The gakpo one hes just shuffling across and ball hits him more than being an actual save..just routine positioning by a good keeper. Even the first free kick take by Szoboszlai was a nice hit but fairly central and he hollywooded that too. Pretty routine stop imo. Just cos we see rubbish at times with keepers making mistakes or having weak wrists doesn't mean we need to fall for the absolute orgasmic approach of some commentators. All i need do is compare this to alissoj v psg and go. Nah 7/10.
Kept it simple. Hes a bit of a flapper aerially but he does the basics well and has hitting longer options who were available to him all night.
I very, very rarely, if ever actually, praise an opposition player but Courtois was so good, he deserved all the praise he got for his performance.
It’s a mix that gives the overall praise isn’t it: - 2 or 3 top top saves - 2 or 3 tough ones, dealt with well - 2 or 3 more on target and handled as expected Fair play to the lad, but he goes home with nothing
1 top save 1 good save 3ok saves made look better by showboating 4 absolutly routine saves. Its is simply a reaction to absolutely over the top comments that somehow he is kyrptonite to lfc just cos his team were dominated and he had work to do. As a keeper he is one of the best, nobody has actually insulted his ability. He had a busy night. Most stuff was hit down his throat. For example vvd header wasnt back in the direction it came. It wasnt down, it wasnt to the side. It was right above his head. Many a keeper gets called a worldie for that type of save but you see it and throw hands. A lot of the time you get something on it. As a keeper from a corner the hardest thing to deal with is turning from facing the corner and squaring up to the play. Thsts why keepers have moved from standing closer to the front post to some standing more far post. If you turn and are moving and the ball flies back across you then you've got to shift body weight and dive at it. Then look at szoboszlai free kick. Yeah its coming hard, we know he can hit it but the ball its in the corner or anywhere near it. Its comfortably in a spot he should get to. And he does. The driven szoboszlai shot is across him but again its a hard shot but its a really nice height to reach and he gives its a good strong wrist. Thsts fine but its not a miracle save or anything like one. Its just a solid stop. Theres one where we get in on the right amd he starts near post.making himself big in case salah has a goes then as the ball goes into the middle gakpo gets it about a yard away as hes shuffled across. Gakpo effort is again right at him because hes move.into a natural keeping position. It hits him rather than him.moving. Competent keeping. Not wordie keeping. BTW the marmadashvilli save from bellingham is one where he also just gets hit rather than some form of worldie save. You just cover the post and make yourself big and when it hits you you are a hero and when it beats you then you had no chance. The difference between that and alisson in so.many 1 on 1s is that alisson picks his moment..alisson gets beaten too but keepers can only get the right position and make themselves big. Courtois. Solid 7/10. 1 save that was top drawer out of 8.
Yeah, the one from Szobs where he closes the space and makes himself big was the outstanding save of the night.....saved with his leg. I would say 8/10......8.5 maybe for his overall performance. One of the best keepers around.
This discussion could also be applied to bradley. Yeah he did his job. Relax about it, he just did his job as a defender, not put in a worldie up and down the line etc etc. Yeah vini jnr could be a handful if hes not rolling about and diving but in reality they team as a whole were mostly disciplined and held good shape so he was actually well supported and vini jnr was double teamed. They hardly got a 2 on 1 situation. Gravenberch made sure of that. Macallister discipline to actually stay v real made all the difference imo. Bradley did his job. Atta boy. Same for courtois. Did his job.
Yet again you're being condescending towards others, and creating a strawman argument so you can bring it down. As far as I can see, nobody has got over-excited about the performances of either player. Simply saying who were the standout players in a game and admiring their performance is not going over the top. I don't understand the need to repeatedly put a damper on things.
I don't know saint, it's really making me rethink my take on the game. All those great shots on target were nothing special because they were too easy to save. As for Bradley, winning 100% of his tackles, 8 one on ones, stopping Vini getting a single shot off and causing him to lose the ball 19 times was just a routine RB performance.
Im not. Im talking in general. The amount if tiky tocky and twatter stuff about bradley doing hai job has been amazing. When you say nobody are you talking about the less than 10 people on here or in your own circle of discussions? Just so I know before deciding if I should insult you back
