I dont think we played that bad, it was one of those games where the same performance against a different team would have been the opposite ............although that is only hindsight and theological!
I haven’t seen it, as I was busy yesterday, but the way we play, so open, it’s always a possibility. The hope is that over a season there are more positive results than negative. At least it’s much easier on the eye. Regardless of where we finished last year, on the whole, I found the football boring.
Most of the games at home have been just a tough a watch as they were under Manning........Tbf of late it's been compounded by the loss of key midfielders. Mark Robins identified our weakness down our left side and didn't they half exploit it.......they had pace to burn. Looks like Struber has another spot to fill alongside Dickie, the obvious is Vyner dropping back but can't see that happening with our lack of fit midfielders. Struber has worked the odd miracle so far in getting us into the top 6 but I really fear the worst until we get Knight,Williams,Bird, McNally and now Atkinson back fit.
I prefer Strubers approach, I find it much more entertaining, I agree about the rest of the post though, I’ve no idea how we’ve managed to continue to pick up wins with a patched up midfield, but I wonder how much longer we can continue with such a small squad of fit players, and the lack of ability to rotate, i hope yesterday wasn’t a sign that it’s catching up with us.
getting interesting not going to forcast CITY RESULT currently on 22 points.... HOWEVER . WORST CASE SCENARIO's ........ Ipswich win = 22 points GD is 8+? Charlton win = 23 points GD is 5+ Hull draw / win = 23pts / 25pts GD is 2/3+ Millwall lose/ draw = 24 /25pts GD is 1/1 Stoke as above GD is 9/9 Middsbro lose draw is 25/26 GD is 5 PNE Draw /win is 23/25pts GD 6 /7+ should City not play!!!! then wrong results could mean City drops to 9th
Mark Sykes, Neto Borges, Jason Knight, Cam Pring: Bristol City injury latest ahead of Watford Bristol Live rounds up the latest injury news from the Bristol City camp ahead of the Robins' clash with Watford at Vicarage Road https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/mark-sykes-neto-borges-jason-10624689 Mark Sykes Neto Borges Jason Knight Cam Pring Joe Williams Max Bird Josh Stokes Rob Atkinson Luke McNally Incredible injury list, the same type of build up happened with Nige, LM and now Struber, is it just bad luck, carelessness, laziness, complacency, are we expecting to much physically from the players, is the squad undermanned, there must be some reason why this situation keeps repeating, it's doing my bloody head in.
it does make you wonder why???????????????????? if players are doing a certain training regime for a whole season and then a new team takes over maybe the muscles/tendons / ligaments are put through a different "stress event" didnt Josh play a season in aldershot? injury free ..........! then first season here in squad " ouch.......... oh no not month's" etcetcetc
The situation with us and injuries is that it has become an annual visitor and this season we are finally seeing how iit affects the ability to pick a squad under those conditions. When I see the full match list with players and subs noted the first thing I look at who do we have on the bench that can save a game and should be in the starting eleven? Mayulu, Armstrong, Cornick and a few others are not up to Championship standard and until such time as we look for higher class footballers, rather than low leagues, we will continue to be in exactly the same position next season and so on.
There are too many coincidences under many different Managers over many seasons for it to be just bad luck It’s been said before many times that something, somewhere is wrong with the way players are either prepared or treated
I thought last year they looked really fit - at the end of the day they ran out of steam He had the smallest squad in the Championship (numbers not budget), and in the end those minutes took their toll The squad is no bigger than last year - as soon as injuries happen, it means more minutes on the pitch, inviting more injuries
How great to see Alex Scott named in his first England squad!! https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c0mxgd10j2yo
