They've really changed their whole system to suite the one player - The problem with that is if he gets injured they could be in big trouble.
Exactly - that is actually City's weakness and why they are not as good as they once were. Haalands finishing is actually quite inconsistent. Goes from excellent to abysmal in patches.
Every game week when I see who’s playing, Spurs seem to be playing nobodies. Looking ahead they only appear to have PSG as a tough game. How have they got away with so many easy fixtures?!
Liverpool should have won by 5 or 6 against Real Madrid. I was wrong about Madrid, they are not PL mid table level, they’d be relegation fodder!
Alot of great players but they lack a playmaker and all their best attackers are left sided. It's an unbalanced squad.
they do have a lot of highly rated players for sure - but I do wonder how many are really great. Every time I have seen the likes of Vini Jr, Mbappe and Bellingham against top opposition they've looked very average TBH. Their goalkeeper is world class.
LOL. Mbappe has outscored Henry for France and has 60 goals in 89 UCL games. (he's only 26) You can't have watched him very often. He annoys me because I think he's a dick - quality is undeniable though.
I am not overly impressed by international goal totals - nor do I judge players on goals at all. Most of them come against poor sides. Bergkamp only got 100 or so goals for us. I rate him at a much higher level than Mbappe. I did see the WC final where Mbappe came alive right at the end of the game after one of the poorest performances I had ever seen. Credit to him for waking up, but I think he's too inconsistent with varying levels of 'can I be a arsed'. IMHO. Nothing I am seeing from these players is changing my mind on them. Reputations are too often manufactured these days. Just my opinion of course.
And rightfully so....if you only checked International stats, Peter Crouch looks like a god. His England strike ratio is better than Shearers and Rooneys ffs, because, as you pointed out, most of those games are against Lichtenstein, Morocco and Azerbaijan.
Yeah but there is no world, no matter how much you rate him, where is a better striker than Alan Shearer or Wayne Rooney.
What do you judge it on then? his touch is insane.. he is lightning quick, strong.. I think he should play on the left though like he did as PSG. As an all round player he's far better than Haaland or Kane.
If you only looked at his goals per game for England it does, hence the point I was making about Mbappe's France record
Mbappes record is insane at Monaco, PSG, Real and France. Crouch was actually a kind of Clutch player - maybe that's why. He was actually good under pressure.
80% plus of the games Mbappe has played has been against sub par opponents. French league playing for PSG is as easy as it gets. Spanish league now is almost as bad. Most internationals are easy games. Mbappe has great technique and physical attributes for sure, but that doesn’t make great footballer without the right attitude and football smarts. i have seen him get completely nullified too many times against top opposition. Same with the likes of Bellingham and Vini Jr. Right now, IMO, they need to come to the PL and prove themselves over a couple of seasons for me to change my mind. as always just my opinion.
Indeed. You only have to look at Harry Kane in the Bundesliga to see how far off other European leagues have fallen from the quality of the PL. Kane was clocking 20-25 goals a season in the PL at 26, now he is grabbing more than a goal a game in the Bundesliga at 32, and you cant tell me 32 yr old Kane is better than 26 yr old Kane. I know he is in a better team in the Bundesliga than he was at Spurs, but its mostly because the level of opposition defences he is facing in Germany are not up to PL standards.
Add in the fact that Mbappe has largely been anonymous anytime he's played against a prem team in the CL. Nothing in the four KO CL games last year. Didn't get the better of Bradley on Tuesday. I suppose he got a hattrick against City in the playoff last year but City were shipping left, right and centre last year. I'd wager he'd get outscored significantly by Haaland in the prem. If Haaland went to Barca or Real he'd get 50-60 league goals a season. He's clearly very good, but I don't think any of the Real forwards are the best in the world. Vinicius, Rodrygo, Bellingham... all look great as they play 90% of their games against championship level teams.
Exactly this. I don’t think any of them could shine in a top 4 side in the PL. They are decent players but their reputations are significantly inflated. That’s not to say they are not very talented. They are quite capable of having a standout game occasionally.
