I do wonder if our season is dependent on little Ivor staying? Surely if we are top 6 by Xmas this will be seen as a water into wine achievement Amd with the inevitable new year managerial sackings at West Ham, Forest or Wolves someone may come calling ? For that matter - we will be able to keep our ginger genius or the Doc? Being a decent side does come with its problems
Funnily enough I was having an identical conversation with a friend earlier …about Lloyd Jones. A real Rolls Royce of a defender, who is never less than an 8/10 every week. You’d imagine other clubs are looking. As for Nathan, he’s financially secure after his pay offs from Stoke & Southampton. We are paying him well too.
The pitfalls that come with success. It's been years since we have been in this position. We might as well enjoy the good time while it lasts.
He pulled off a Bobby Moore tackle yesterday. As well as a huge block. Reminds me a bit of Les berry in his prime
NJ has also been given everything he wants behind the scenes, including total autonomy on all playing issues after winning power struggles with Andy Scott, and then Dr Will Abbott. Equally as significant, NJ now has the final say on who sits on the team coach, following the sudden retirement of Miles’ Mum
Our players are lucky Sean Dyche isn't in charge. He would insist the players use that Izal stuff that looks like sheets of grease-proof paper but isn't as comfortable to use.
NJ never under knowingly sells himself. On Rich Cawley’s substack today, he said he’s turned our £1m players into £3-4m players. I can think of a few he’s referring to. But what about Ahadme, and maybe Kelman Both signed at his request, and it looks as if we have hugely over paid for both…
Nathan Jones is now attracting plenty of positive attention & credit from fans of other clubs, and it’s good to see. There is increasing recognition & respect for the work he has done both with us, and Luton. Plenty of Southampton fans on Twitter are now expressing regret for how they treated him. I’d say he is currently one of the best British managers of his generation.
High praise indeed. I like what he's done in the past twelve months. Ranks him up with SCP and Bowyer in our recent history. For me it's still a wee bit early to say more than that. Things are looking good this season so far but there are still 32 games to go...
I think it is just a matter of time until Jones is snapped up by another Club higher up the food chain.
