You've got to feel for the lad, injured within a few minutes of his reserve team comeback. I think it is time for him to call it a day sadly...I always liked the lad and will always remember him coming off injured for us once and he was close to tears, it was horrible to see.

He could've been so good if he just hadn't had so many injuries. I seriously think he would've been able to get into the England first team as a regular. Some people are just unlucky i guess.

Definitely. He was a very good impact sub for England as well. A real shame for him.

I think it was game over for him a while ago tbh. Shame how his career has turned out.

He was class when fit. I remember a game in Europe (Lisbon I think) We were 2-0 up on aggregate with an away goal, Dyer went off after an hour and we went out after conceding 4.

He was overrated and never got anywhere near his full potential because of his attitude. Yes I have sympathy for him as the injuries he have had can't have been very nice.

Poor attitude. Even poorer injury record. What on earth were QPR thinking signing him? And why is he saying they won't take the option of terminating his contract? He's not exactly a charity case.

He needs to retire. Every time he gets a set back like this he's just causing himself more heartache and disappointment.

Although he must be worried. He can't have earned much money over the last 5 years, and as the money he has now will have to last him the rest of his life when he retires, he'll probably have to live on a fairly average wage. Even a million quid over 50 years is only £20k a year.

How come? It's been reported he made £83,000 a week at West Ham. You must be on a good salary if you think that isn't much money.

Im sure he made enough money at West Ham, he was on a daft amount there considering the amount of time he was in there medical room.

no I will never feel sorry for him, went out partying and refused to play under sir bobby which was the beginning of the end to his mangerial regime, and has the nerve to cry when he died, he is nothing but an arrogant twat, the only shining light was we managed to get 6million (thanks west ham) for him

Sad day, even if he is a little tosser. He should really call it a day now, he's in his 30s and likely wont even play much for QPR is he recovers. If he is short of money he can always get a coaching/punditry job.

It's a lot of money, but players retire eventually, and if they don't get another job, the money they made during their careers has to last them virtually for the rest of their lives.

If he was earning that sort of cash at West Ham then he'll probably be fine, but footballers cash reserves don't last as long as some people expect, and eventually they have to spend quite modestly by footballing standards. That's why some older footballers look for one final big payday before they retire, because they know it's their last chance to stock up on money before they retire.

Feel for the lad but not his bank balance. Since Newcastle where he was on £80,000 a week THEN!

Chronic injury record but QPR knew he was crocked surely.
