Nice to wake up after a decent and convincing win like that, isn’t? No weekend ruined, no workplace rival fans wumming. as I said last night, you can only play whats in front of you (and the standard was much lower), but I personally felt that there was much more of a “partnership” between Xavi and Muani than anything else we’ve seen in our attacking 3rd this season so far. Would have been very interesting to see how Kudus could have linked up with those two, too. Bentancur absolutely unreal last night. I’d like to see his stats if anyone has them. I didn’t see him give the ball away once. a much needed and convincing win. The attitude and mentality after going down to 10 men was class. all in all, a really decent performance all things considered. COYS
Bentancur was very good, but forgive me for the word of caution: Copenhagen were abysmal. They gave our players all the time and space they needed. I'm not getting carried away by anyone's performance except perhaps Micky, who I am rapidly falling in love with.
So we're presuming that Vicario faked that leg injury to buy us some time to reconfigure the team after Johnson's red card then...?
Yeah agree, many players were brilliant last night but it’s not much we can read into. However one thing I will say is that purely for balance of play, Udogie and Porro need to be the starting FBs. Spence’s redemption arc has been great but the natural width Udogie provides with his left is something Spence can’t replicate, especially in Frank’s system. We’ve got three very good FBs though and there’s plenty of minutes and game time for all three to be had.
I suspect he’s carrying an injury as he had treatment on the pitch over the weekend on his groin region.
Other than the win, the GD is very important (some surplus there to offset a likely mauling by a fully fit PSG, the possibility of repeating against Prague this result) . If the Pts/GD prior to Dortmund appearing could be 11+ / 5+ , IMHO that would set the team up well for auto qualification to the KO stage.
Bale-esque, in that he has that juggernaut speed (before they get going, you have a chance to stop them) . Contrast to Azza, who had that "0 to 60" burst of speed which meant he was immediately gone. I have read the above in reference to VDV and his hamstrings (him being said to be more like a 400m runner than a 100m sprinter) .
He has that athleticism. He played as a striker as a kid, didn’t he? He might be wasted as a defender.
