Just been looking at their squad for tonight. A good mix of youth and championship experience. Good manager there too
going to be toughest year to get out of the Championship. the teams at the bottom could be cut adrift soon, Wednesday are as good as down, Depends on how quickly the others react. again Thank You Tom Watson
"toughest year to get out of the Championship" At the moment Sheffield United, Norwich City and the big Sheffield club are making it look easy
saints fans I overheard whilst hot desking "We are the biggest and most historic club in the championship. No bigger club has ever played in the Championship or League 1, no club has suffered as much too, WE should be the PL," me " Well none of that is true, Leicester, Coventry, Ipswich, both Sheff Clubs are bigger, with more history, Sunderland to this date are the biggest club to be in L1.. Sheff wednesday are in turmoil worse than you had it" "sunderland copied our stadium and strips so stay in your lane" "the SoL was designed, built and is use before St Mary's was, we have played in stripes for years, you dont, you change it most seasons" "well, youre a woman, go and make me an sandwich and leave the football talk to the men, as that is our sport, not yours" I ended it on "save your breath for your inflatible girlfriend" that was my past hour.
I might be wrong but I was always told that Southampton play in red and white stripes because we gave them some of our tops in the 1890s. Prior to that they played in either white or red and white halves. We've played in red and white stripes since 1887. I do know though that we advised them on the design and build of St Mary's stadium, its based on early designs of the SOL but adapted by them to suit them. The SOL had been open for 3 years before they even started work on St Mary's. I guess it shows that they don't know much about their own club's history.
