    Viana was highly rated at that time he just didn't fulfil his potential it happens Sebatien Deisler,Cherno Samba,Santiago Ezquerro,Freddy Adu all highly rated as young uns who failed to make the grade

    <laugh> definitely! They pretty much just chose the latest wonder kid signing and called him the new one of him. Chamberlain hadn't even played for Arsenal at the time!

    The Ronaldo story is dwarfed by a rumoured Keegan error of judgement in 1992, in which supposedly a young fella named Zinedine Zidane came to Newcastle on trial only to be sent packing back to Cannes, deemed not good enough for the Premier League. No idea of the truth, i've just heard it from a few people over the years.

    Yh,i remember that story. Blackburn had zidane on trial at that time too. They said they didnt need him as they already had Tim Sherwood! <doh>

    Didn't the Tottenham manager at the time also say "why would I want Zidane, when I have Tom sherwood" or something?

    I swears there's rumours like these for each club.
