The NHS was recommended in the Beveridge report of 1942 commissioned by the coalition war government consisting of conservative and labour. The conservative health minister Willink took it further in his proposals of 1944 with a free service. Labour implemented these plans, with modfications in 1946 whilst in power. In those heady political times we had politicians who would work together for the good of the country. It was a period of concensus politics which we should be crying out for now. Instead we have front line politicians who are interested only in blame and reasons why somebody else makes them ****e, and maybe a gig post politics that earns them millions.

If it is so good why is there only one other country in the world with a similar system, Britain has always been centre to right of centre, plenty of left wing govs yet not one implemented an NHS, serious question. Every other country seems happy not to have an NHS.
