Solanke at least has intangibles to justify the investment, as he creates a lot of turnovers with his pressing and he can hold up the ball when required. Not so good for your fantasy team, but useful in a real-life team

Richy's main asset is his aerial threat...yet our set pieces are prioritising other targets like Mickey Van or (in pre-season anyway) Vuskovic

    my only criticisms tonight are...
    1. the sending off looked really soft
    2. Last season Richarlison was desperate for a goal and in an EL match Maddison (the penalty taker as Son weren't on the pitch) gave the ball to him and Richarlison scored. When Maddison was asked why he said "we are a team and he desperately needed a goal and as captain it was the right decision."
Shame on Richarlison for not taking the same attitude with Scarlett.

I never get on his back when I'm at games and he rarely plays well...just works hard (which is a low bar for £65m) ... was against us buying him at any price but still supported him when he played but tonight he was only interested in him.

Would happily not see him. in a spurs shirt again. Appalling way to treat a young, up and coming player imho

    Much better.
I think van de Ven's goal pushes Richarlison's scissor kick into 2nd place in the Puskas.
Shame about the bullshit red card. Not sure how many games Johnson will miss.

It would be in the Premier League, but it's a bit different in Europe, for some reason.
It's one match and they can extend it. They shouldn't, but we'll see what happens.

Simons excelled tonight due to the slower pace of this game

He was playin with some style I thought

Probably take him this season to get used to the speed of Prem games imo

    Hope he cracks it

There’s a silky player in there

Tottenham say they are supporting Destiny Udogie after confirming the Italy defender was allegedly threatened with a gun by a football agent.

On Monday, BBC Sport reported an unnamed Premier League footballer was targeted in London on 6 September.

Another man is also alleged to have been blackmailed and threatened by the same individual during the incident in question. No injuries were reported.

The Metropolitan police, who are investigating, said a 31-year-old man was arrested on 8 September on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent, blackmail and driving without a licence. He has been bailed while enquiries continue.

In a statement on Tuesday, Spurs said: "We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further."

The 22-year-old Udogie joined Spurs from Udinese for £15m on a five-year deal in the summer of 2022, before immediately returning to the Serie A club on a season-long loan.

He returned to Tottenham for the start of the 2023-24 campaign and has made 76 appearances for the club.

The Italian has played 10 times this season, including Tuesday night's 4-0 win over Copenhagen in the league phase of the Champions League.

I hope so too, and for the first time in a Spurs shirt we saw a glimpse of a decent player.
But it was against a 2nd rate opposition who never pressed and allowed us to dominate.

The PL is another level (or 3) up and while I understand he will take a time to get up to speed, the least we should expect is that he tries as hard as he can. That has not been in evidence in league games so far, and he has looked very fragile.

I do feel for him, having to be subbed following the Johnson red, but I'm afraid I would swap his unhappiness for Mickey's goal every day of the week - and we wouldn't have got the latter without the former! <laugh>
