First, Paramedics, amazing people, beyond amazing. The staff in HRI, you deserve a medal...

Mum was rushed in again today at 11.30am. at just short of 8pm (8+ hours) she was still in a corridor having progressed along the line, had bloods and CT scan.. Behind her in the queue are another 28 people on beds in main corridors, side corridors, the entrance lobby by the lifts. Toilets in the emergency area have been OOO for over 2 and a half weeks apparently. I had to run and find a wheelchair to get my Mum off a bed to take her to a toilet maybe 100 yards away, as there were no nursing staff to assist her, the toilet was occupied by a staff member. Staff were in such short supply, every one of them of all nationalities trying their best to juggle their to do lists as best they could. Its little wonder, they are leaving the profession, they are shafted every day of the week as far as I can see. Going back to the 28 people behind Mum, most had paramedics waiting with them for handover, the nett result being crews not being out on the road and able to respond and do amazing things.

At 8.45, Mum was transferred to a ward with amazing filipino staff,

Thanks to all those amazing people that try, to this and successive governments and trusts **** YOU.

I think i'm right in saying 500 staff are being made redundant or laid off in December...and a Junior Doctors strike 9-14 November..?

    Draw your own conclusions.

I went for a routine procedure last week. Just Day Surgery nothing difficult and only local and was waiting for 5 hours beyond my appointment time before anything happened.

Staff were brilliant, just the processes took far too long for the amount of them available.

Best wishes to you and your mum

    Best wishes for your Mum.

Experienced similar several times over past few years, both Hull and Scarborough.

Well said, spot on......"Thanks to all those amazing people that try, to this and successive governments and trusts **** YOU."

However, be reassured, it's ok. He clearly said over a year ago that he'd fix this (and fix ......).

Once again I say, this country is ****ed. As you allude to, I fear things are going to get worse, probably even much worse, before too long with the NHS, and in other areas. At least then the need for a major reset and change of direction will be self evident, accepted and can begin.

Had to take mum in last Wednesday, a&e absolutely rammed, we went in via ambulance to got put in the holding g area at the back, I dont think I've ever seen it so bad with patients lining the corridors, one nurse to look after every 6 patients, complete madness. Gotta take ya hat off to the staff working under such pressure

I knew the N.H.S. was good but I didn't realise how special they was 'til i've had to use the A&E and different departments since my illness started 7 years ago. Yes you have to queue these days but that isn't the fault of the staff, they do a fantastic job under their working conditions.

I've found all staff no matter what nationality they are to be fantastic Peter. They've helped save my life a couple of times which I will be forever grateful.

Edit: That includes Castle Hill of course not just H.R.I.

British people cost about a quarter of a milllion pounds to train and then cant get jobs because NHS cant afford to employ them due to the resident doctor's pay rises.

i thought one of the big problems with waiting at hospitals etc is becasue so many patients have nowhere to go after treatment, so they take up beds, which just like everything else in the uk, the social care system is broken
is that doctors wages fault too?

I think the £111m the British government has just gifted Pakistan for contraception would have covered that ?

How many doctors and nurses could be employed directly with the money that the NHS are forced to spunk on agency staff?

All NHS staff should have pay restored to the levels pre 2008.

Just need to be pragmatic and spread it over, say, 3 years instead off one lump sum.

Does this include the accomodation, heating, lighting, and generally existing costs? While traing in Hull, York and Leeds. For five years. Silly me, I forgot the course fees of just short of 10 grand a year. Yea, at the end of that I would like a decent wage. Not least of all to pay off any student loans.

But not to worry, billions are going to be pumped into the system. The system that is the UK's largest employer, which has just had their NI contribution rates increased. Am I f*****g missing something or is it really all smoke and mirrors?

After major surgery I was well enough to return home. However I was prescribed powerful antibiotics and could not be discharged until seen by the prescribing specialist. So I took up a bed for nigh on a week, that is except for very regular trips to the toilet, before being seen by this twat who had created his own personal fiefdom. And the wisdom he imparted? These tablets cause diarrhea. No **** Sherlock, well actually, lots of it.

And not forgetting the hourly, seemed like, request to have a look at me bum for bed sores. Which ambulance chaser came up with that scam?
