Heartbreaking stuff. I watched sitting next to my kids, one of whom was wearing an Ipswich shirt my nominal tractor-boy father-in-law gave him...purely to wind me up. It worked. We were so bad on Saturday, so negative and so easy to undo at the back. It was infuriating. Going into Wednesday night, I'd like to see a fair few changes, and looking at the bench from Saturday, Mbengue, Norrington-Davies, Smyth, Varanne, Field, Poku, Saito and Frey could all come in, to use fresh legs and make the point that Saturday wasn't good enough. I'd only leave Cook and Dunne on the field from the eleven who started on Saturday. It was infuriating to watch. After that result we sit 13th, last in a group of 4 teams on 18 points...and one point ahead of four teams on 17 points, so solidly mid-table. As for our visitors, they've not had a happy return to the Championship after a year in the Premier League. Last season, they managed a grand total of 12 points from two wins and six draws...making them the second worst Premier League side in history, one point ahead of the Derby side from 2007/08. As has been proved many times before, that psychology is hard to change, and they've won 2, drawn 6 and lost 5 so far this season...a run which led to Will Still being dismissed on Saturday, after just five months in charge. Their top scorer so far is Adam Armstrong with 4 goals, followed by Ryan Manning and Ross Stewart with 2 each. Team news and manager comments to go up asap, enjoy if you'll make it to HQ and as always... ...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
Cheers Dave. I’m off to Berlin on Wednesday for a few days, so will miss this one. But we need a win, don’t want to get into a Cifuentes style slump.
Nice one Dave I'm flying in for this one - a stonking home win - maybe Long time since I've been at HQ midweek under the lights
Couldn't possibly have Cook keeping his place. Would go with 4-4-1-1 Hamer Dunne Morrison Mbengue Norrington-Davis Poku Varane Madsen Saito Chair Burrell Subs - Nardi, Cook, Field, Hayden, Morgan, Vale, Smyth, Kolli, Kone
''making them the second worst Premier League side in history, one point ahead of the Derby side from 2007/08''. We usually love to help such teams out!
I remember the game two years ago. The crowd chanted w***er at Ryan Manning and he he then set up their goal.
I liked Manning. Didn’t get nearly enough playing time while stuck behind some absolute ****e and the club didn’t lock him down to a decent contract when they should have hence he walked away. Much like BOS at a similar time. Now a regular international, albeit in this dreadful Ireland team.
I see Sheff U are playing tonight and thus have an extra day ahead of Saturday as was the case with Derby. Sky unnecessarily having games on the Wednesday gives teams a significant edge.
Remember the game against Saints in Hughes time as manager dubbed El Sackio as both sides were in bottom 3.... they had a big following and played us off the park..... left with 10 minutes left and losing 1-3 and all you could hear walking down Loftus Road was the chant " you're only here for the money " .... Hughes was sacked a few days later... Grim times.... let's hope its better tomorrow night and we don't do our usual Charity Park Rangers thing....
I must have blocked that from my memory. No recollection at all. The one I do remember is playing quite well and getting done 1-0 in the last minute to a Mane goal. One of many games that was winnable, we actually did ok and still lost, on the way to meek relegation but it kind of felt for a while like it could turn around.
@kiwiqpr, we are at home on Wednesday, so will be in traditional blue & white hoops. If I'm not mistaken, we've not seen Stacey yet this season. I hope you're not holding back on us!
