Here's how our U21s line-up for this afternoon's clash against Watford: T.Reid; Brown, Elliott, Hunter, Enslin; Safa, Gough (c), Casey; Rylah, Sol-Loza, Lock Subs: Hardy, Rayment-Dawkins, Amissah, Tagoe, R.Reid
Finished 3-1 to us. I am driving to Ipswich so need to get off. Will put more details on here tomorrow.
We are away to Millwall today at the Lions training ground, KO1-30. I would be going to this one but it is apparently behind closed doors.
MacLorg; Brown, Laqeretabua, Hunter, Enslin; Gough (c), Anderson, Fullah; Rylah, Casey, Lock. Subs: Hardy, R.Reid, Amissah, Safa, Elliott Anderson getting a run out.
Decent line-up there. We have quite a good record against them at u-18 & u-21 level which isn’t much consolation.
Charlton’s U21s stretched their unbeaten run to 10 games with a 2-2 draw against Queen Park Rangers at Sparrows Lane on Friday afternoon. Kai Enslin opened the scoring for the young Addicks on 27 minutes, exchanging a neat one-two with Reuben Reid before coolly sending a left-footed effort into the bottom-right corner. Substitute Cian Dillon brought the visitors level 10 minutes into the second period, racing on to goalkeeper Joel Halliday's punt forward and firing beyond Lennon MacLorg with a fine finish. Daniel Bennie gave the R's the lead on 69 minutes, driving into the 18-yard box and arrowing his effort back across goal. The young Addicks' response was immediate though, with Keenan Gough winning possession back superbly before finding Rylah, who sent a powerful strike beyond Halliday to ultimately earn his side a point. The U21s are next in action on Tuesday when they take on Brentford at Princes Park (KO 1pm GMT). Charlton: MacLorg; Brown, Elliott, Hunter (Laqeretabua 60), Enslin; Gough (c), Safa, R.Reid (Tagoe 77); Rylah, Sol-Loza (Casey 73), Lock (Amissah 60) Subs (not used): Hardy Goals: Enslin 27, Rylah 73
NJ was effusive about Fullah, and said he will not need to go out on loan, which is a real endorsement. I’ve long thought he’s the best of our current crop of kids @Dick Plumb1 Anderson (road runner) seems to have disappeared without trace.
Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce that academy star Alan Mwamba has signed a new long-term contract with the club. The midfielder joined the Addicks’ academy at U12 level and signed his first professional contract in July 2024, before earning his senior debut two months later. Manager Nathan Jones commented: "I’m delighted Alan has signed a new contract with the club. He’s a wonderful young player with a really bright future. We handed him his debut against Cambridge United last year and he’s continued to progress since then, so I’m really pleased he’s committed his future to the club." After putting pen to paper, Mwamba said: "It’s a blessing to sign a new contract and be recognised as someone who deserves one. It encourages me to push on and show what I can bring as a player and also as a person. I’ve been here since U12s and I feel like it’s been a really good journey with ups and downs. To get to this stage shows that if I keep doing what I’ve been doing then I can make it even further."
